How many foreigners are in Afganistan? A quick internet search did not reveal any official information on the actual number of American civilians in Afganistan. This is apparently a big secret.

Mostly no. They are in a war zone and subject to the whims of the bosses.
At the whims of what bosses? So, if you or anyone else in the world goes up to your boss tomorrow and says, I quit, based on his/her whims you CAN’T quit? Is that what you’re telling me?
Hmmmmm.....I remember folks that worked in Baghdad, either at the embassy or on other contracts and when they quit, they were gone within a day or two. Usually the next day. Of course, most of them had to pay for that ticket home and it was pricey, but they were gone.
If anyone of these people went to “their bosses” in a place like Afghanistan, said I want out, and was denied, I can assure you they were gone. And gone quick. Because all it would take is one phone call to their Congressional Representatives office. I’ve seen it.
I was in Iraq when the rockets and mortars came in. And the next day KBR had buses lined up, taking all the folks to BIAP for their plane ride home. As they would all say...this isn’t what I signed up for.
In addition to that, it’s proven that it absolutely destroys morale and that destruction spreads like wildfire.
However, if someone says they want out, their boss asks them to stay a little longer until their replacement shows up and then agree, then again, it’s on them.
