You dont need that much of a sample for a PCR test. Also folks should know 23 and me does not actually run the tests. That is done by quest or lab Corp (can’t remember which at the moment). 23 and me just runs the database. Also I think what they are using now is a buccal swab they source from dna genotek.
But don’t ask me, I know nothing about it ;-)

I sent mine to Ancestry.com and the results were pretty accurate. My brother and sister did as well and we compared the results. Reasonably consistent.
