The South undertook a violent secession to preserves slavery and opened fire on Ft. Sumter.

They started a war and lost.

The North wanted new territories admitted as free states, for everyone. The South wanted them admitted as slave slaves, all the way to California.

That is revisionist history. The Confederates became aware that Lincoln had launched a war fleet attack against them, and neutralized the fort before all the fleet could arrive to attack them.

They offered Anderson a truce, but he refused, vowing to fire on them with the cannons of the fort if Lincolns attack fleet engaged them in combat. Beauregard was left with no choice but to prevent getting shot in the back by the Troops in Sumter.

Your posts are usually such a finely aggregated mixture of insoluble ignorance and bold lies that a casual reader would hardly what to make of them, but I know that even *you* aren't stupid enough to believe this. Every significant Northern voice of the time very clearly expressed the intention of turning the Northwest into a purely White "workers' paradise" in keeping with the Marxist and Darwinist thought driving 'progressive' Northern politics. You've been force-fed quotes from Lincoln, Sherman, Sheridan, et al for years, now, and know better.
