No Republican political family has been as tormented by Donald Trump as the Bush dynasty.
Now Trump has one more opportunity to twist the knife, as George P. Bush — the last remaining Bush in public office — prepares to launch a primary challenge Wednesday against Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton.
In what’s expected to be a brutal contest pitting the Bush family scion against a scandal-plagued incumbent, Trump’s endorsement will go a long way toward determining the winner. The former president remains popular with the Texas Republican base — so popular that Bush, Jeb Bush’s son and currently the state’s land commissioner, has studiously avoided his family’s entanglements with Trump.
“It’s going to be the Holy War of Texas. We haven’t seen a battle like this since the siege at the Alamo,” said Jeff Roe, a Republican strategist and top adviser to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in 2016.
“George P. is both the heir and protector of a historic Texas political dynasty, but this is a race against a two-term incumbent attorney general,” Roe said. “A line in the sand will be drawn, and people will have to choose sides. Everyone always thought George P. would carry the family banner into the next generation, but I’m not sure anyone anticipated it happening like this.”

Could there be a more mealy-mouthed, pantywaist than this man.
There is NO CHANCE in HELL that I will ever vote for another Bush.
I remember when it was Bushitler.
If Trump endorses P it will show he has learned nothing from endorsing McCain, Romney, McConnell, Tillis, etc.
Okay, for those of us who are not residents of TX; what is the "scandal(s)"?
If he endorses George P Bush over Paxton, a loyalist, I am done with Trump completely.
Correct. Trump’s Kryptonite is that, for whatever reason, he is a HORRIBLE judge of character. His personnel decisions have been dreadful, from his longtime personal lawyer to people like McMaster and Jim Jones he has a very rich history of putting faith in people who don’t deserve it.
No "specifics" (proof) of a crime; but, lets just accuse him of one anyway.
I think I'll wait to see if any actual proof of a crime being committed, is offered.
Thanks for pointing out Jeb’s email. It does say a lot about the Bush family.
George P only supports Trump because it will help George P win. It is all about him.
With MSN quoting Jeff Roe we have to add a pinch of salt right now. Jeff Roe, who didn’t last with Cruz, has his picture in the dictionary when you look up Nasty Republican Consultants.
With one Kennedy family member saying that we’re legalizing marijuana too quickly without fully understanding all the implications and another saying that we shouldn’t be even thinking about forcing COVID vaccines on people, there’s probably a better chance of me voting for a Kennedy than a Bush ever again.
George P. Bush’s long standing support of Trump has been impressive given his family. I think I would make an exception for this Bush.
However, he is challenging Ken Paxton. Paxton is Texas AG who sued the states where the election was stolen - the suit got thrown out.. but still.
I doubt very much Trump will endorse a challenger to Ken Paxton, a hero of the failed Stop the Steal effort.
The only way to get that family away from the levers of power, is to stop voting for them. The first two Bushes knew what we wanted to hear, and we believed them to our horrible detriment. So now, I keep reading comments that this particular Bush is “different”, or “Give him a chance”.
NO!!!!!!!!!! Never, never, never again.
The ‘scandals’ are the same kind of ginned-up accusations you see against any conservative and Trump supporter, so far as I know. Paxton has been a good one, and hopefully he will win.
NEVER TRUST A BUSH!
“Please clap”
I am a born Texan and I will never vote foe a Bush again. No more Bushes. Let them go live and have office in Maine.
Oh come on now...Donald is a very stable genius...he told us so😎
Some folks seem to believe he is a diety...ergo he can not make mistakes.
