I'm sure her father, and uncle, Thomas Howard were manipulating her, and Henry's 5th wife Catherine Howard behind the scenes. Howard escaped execution when Henry VIII died.

Forgot to mention I visited Hampton Court twice as well, but wish I could have gotten to Hever Castle, and many other places on my two trips. My first trip to England overseas was for a 3 week bus tour of the British Isles. I made sure I had a week in London before the bus tour started so I could knock off some of the sites I had on my bucket list.
Anne did not ever give birth to a living son. All male children she birthed had died. The only living child was Elizabeth, who went on to become Elizabeth I.
Jane Seymour was the third wife who finally gave Henry his son. This child was named Edward; but, he was sickly for most of his life and died young. He was King for a short period of time.
Edward was succeeded by Mary, who was the only living child of Henry and Catherine. Mary had no children, so she was succeeded by Elizabeth.
I am so sorry for your loss as well.
Both of my parents are gone now; it’s very strange to be an adult orphan, in a sense. I always want to call my dad and ask him for advice.
My mother, I don’t feel the same about her because she beat me up all the time. I had to wear long sleeved shirts to school to hide the bruises.
I’m sorry for the loss of your mom. I do think someone saved your life there. My mother and my sister both did go to Hampton Court, she has a photo of herself there on the outside grounds. How exciting to go there!
Both my parents are gone as well now and my sister, my mother’s favorite child. I hope they are together at last, happy. But I used to phone her daily and want to call and tell her things constantly, I get that. Wow, your mom was a rip!
Well, Anne’s father was no treat, encouraging her to have the affair with the king. She seemed to excel at it and I’m sure passed everyone’s expectations becoming Queen. If only the boy she had lived, I wonder how history would’ve turned out.
And I wonder if she really does walk the Tower grounds on this day and Christmas Day at Hever Castle.
As kids growing up in the 50's, we knew the one thing not to do was disrespect our mother, in front of our father. My father hit me once in his life, and that's all it took for me to never do it again. I don't remember my mother ever laying a hand on any of us kids. I was the baby, and probably could have used a smack to two from her growing up.
You have a better throne claim than the Windsor Germans!
A lot of violence/torture occurred at the almost 1,000 year-old Tower. I wouldn't be surprised if many of its victims walked the grounds they spent their last days at.
Can't prove it though. I wrote to Dr. Turi King who worked on Richard III's DNA, as I share his Haplo Group J, and a couple of his sequences. She replied that one needs to have an all male, or all female line to make the connection. I have neither. It's made up of male and females through the lines. Richard III is allegedly my 15th great-granduncle through his brother Edward IV and Elizabeth of York, who are supposed to be my 15th Great-Grandparents, via their daughter Cecily, who married John Welles, 1st Viscount Welles.
There is some evidence that Anne’s father was not happy to have his daughters mixed up with the king that way. But all of this history is viewed through a glass, darkly. Who knows what was done within a family.
It’s sad to me that she was such an outstanding step-mother, but wasn’t able to mother her own baby. And childbed fever is a pretty horrific way to go.
Im no fan of fiction . I truly enjoy reding her books and ive read all of her non fiction i like the way she writes!
And from what I understand, it was pretty common back then.
There was a lot of treachery done behind the scenes in these families that sought to get close to the throne, and the power it brought with it. Jane Grey was tossed to the wolves because of ambition by others.
I was referring to this abomination (dozens of articles at the link site):
Oh, I see. Well the Americans are pikers to the Europeans when it comes to rewriting history to suit their agenda.
Actually, Edward was succeeded by the 17 year old “nine days” queen Jane Grey that Mary had beheaded. That is an interesting and little known story in itself.
even though it was not accurate it was entertaining.
AND the actress playing her was HOT.
“Well at least she wasn’t Thomas Cromwell. Executioner was drunk, after the fifth stroke a Yeoman finished him off”.
Yike.
