Varus, the arrogant and cruel Roman governor, threw himself on his sword before the Germans could cut him down. The Romans were always good at figuring out when to fall on their swords.

The root of the name Herman is derived from the name Arminius (Latin). There is a largely unknown huge statue that was built near the site of the battle. A must see if you visit Germany.

I think its on Netflix.
There’s a decent historical dramatization of it called “Barbarians”.
German made film !

Truth. Similar to the Samurai culture which I’m getting into now. Asian history is harder for a westerner to learn. We all know names like Julius and Augustus and William the Conqueror. Keeping up with the Japanese names is very difficult.

Hi there grey_whiskers. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

If I remember it right. This statue was built during Kaiser Wilhelm’s reign. Thanks to new archaeological knowledge its built on the wrong place, not near the battle site.

The Germans are a singularly demented people. They craft clever clocks and then turn around and manufacture mass murder.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.)

I believe you are correct. It was Wilheim the first I believe. And they later found archeological remains that positively identified the location of the slaughter after the statue was erected and finished. But the statue is in the Teutoburg Forest.

I had never realized how close this event happened to Jesus birth.

I appreciate the offer. I try my best not to patronize the Bolshevik Alphabet Inc (youtube). You put it somewhere else like bitchute, or odysee, or Rumble I’ll take a look.
