The "girl" in pink does not sound like a girl; she sounds like a woman. She walks like a woman. She seemed to have the confidence of a woman.
This doesn't mean she isn't close in age to her would-be murderer, but to me she sounds and carries herself as if she is a good decade older.
I have not heard her age confirmed. But if she is older, chances are better than if she were younger that she is self-possessed enough to make a statement about the incident in the next few days when she is ready and has had a chance to run her ideas past someone she trusts as a sounding board.
The way she walked and got in the police car indicates to me she has no issue with the police and was willing to and ready to be taken downtown to give her witness statement because she had some definite things she wanted to say about the incident and what lead up to it.
She also has an accent, as did the cop. I’m thinking these folks are Somali.
“One reporter wondered why the cop couldn’t have just shot Bryant in the leg? He apparently didn’t understand the concept of center mass and the importance of not missing in the context of that life and death situation. “
In this case wouldn’t “center of mass” indicate a gluteus maximus shot?
That would be great and would go some way to restoring my faith in that community. But, I’ll believe it when I see it. I suspect the pressure for her to toe the community line will likely be overwhelming. As I said, I really hope my skepticism turns out to be unwarranted.
Nice houses and nice cars - these people are not economically oppressed or poverty stricken.
After watching the videos and hearing bits and pieces of the unfolding story, I am beginning to believe there is far more to the story prior to the fight.
1. The girl was in foster care. Many foster care homes have multiple children in their care, many of which come from very trauma filled lives prior to going into foster care. Foster homes are sometimes worse than the homes the kids came from.
2. The girl in black may have been the victim of bullying and abuse from other kids in the foster home, the neighborhood and school. She was already involved in a fight with multiple people when the police arrived. Maybe she was defending herself from her tormentors. Maybe this was a daily occurrence for her.
3. Perhaps she just finally snapped after suffering from so much abuse and torment. After all, she was rather large and a prime target from her peers for abuse.
None of us know yet what transpired but I believe the officer did the right thing, but I will wait for all the facts before coming to a conclusion. Maybe the girl was nuts or maybe she just had enough of the bullying.
Multiple stories have her as 16 also.
According to another story the stabber was a slob and the one in pink told her to clean up after herself because the mom didn’t like a messy house.
