A congressman who was on the baseball field during the 2017 shooting that nearly killed GOP Whip Steve Scalise says the FBI privately informed lawmakers it ruled the attack a "suicide by cop," a designation he said downplayed the shooter's apparently political motivation.
Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) revealed the previously undisclosed determination during a hearing of the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday, upbraiding FBI Director Christopher Wray and prompting several colleagues of both parties to pile on. He said FBI agents privately briefed the baseball team on Nov. 16, 2017 to deliver the controversial determination.
“Much to our shock that day, the FBI concluded that this was a case of the attacker seeking suicide by cop,” Wenstrup said. “Director, you want suicide by cop, you just pull a gun on a cop. It doesn't take 136 rounds. It takes one bullet. Both the DHS and the (Office of the Director of National Intelligence) published products labeling this attack as a domestic violent extremism event, specifically targeting Republican members of Congress. The FBI did not.”

The guy was a really pissed off LEFTIST Bernie Bot out of work home inspector-— who came to VA, note not in DC but stayed in VA— loaded to the teeth. HE TARGETED, by information that was known afterwards, he questioned a guy at a health club who spoke about this guy, and remembered him. To find out where the Republican team was practicing. Targeted the Republicans.
How idiotic the FBI tried to dismiss this as a suicide by cop event-— you don’t plan that thoroughly and preemptively to have yourself shot (since he could NOT KNOW, and in fact knew the Representatives there had NO armed security detail. He had to have known this). Further the officers who shot this guy, a male and a female- both black Capitol Police officers, were RAND PAUL’s assigned security detail, and he was visiting the practice- just so happened.
Otherwise this lousy shot (who still did a lot of damage and nearly killed Scallise and don’t know the end result of a lobbyist for Tyson Foods who was there— shot up bad).
There is NO proof of suicide by cop for what he did— he may have left notes way back when about doing it to himself in Missouri, does NOT translate to the Washington shooting he did— and btw he was firing at the Capitol Officers also.
Total utter incompetence by a completely partisan and also STUPID EFF BEE EYE blind dogs.
I don’t claim to know what the shooter’s real motivation might be, but this would be an absolutely terrible way to suicide by cop. When you’re attacking political leaders, those around them providing security have lots of motivation to take you alive. They want to know why you’re doing it and if there’s anyone else who’s going to be joining the party. The security for such people also tend to be the best and brightest among their peers; able to calmly assess and respond to the situation.
Someone wanting to suicide by cop needs to find some jumpy young cops in a bad part of town who will immediately empty mags to put down your threat with overwhelming force. Their main motivation in that situation is going home to their families that night (and rightfully so). They’ll be happy to put you down in a hurry.
If I ever find myself on a jury and the FBI was involved in the case I’ll vote to acquit.

The U.S. in not going to hell, at this point, we are already there.
This FBI is abysmal and one of the main reasons Trump and the GOP got screwed. Remember, all the horrible actors in the FBI never had to face any penalties for their treasonous actions against Trump. Comey even tried a mafia style extortion attempt against Trump with the phony dossier right after he took office.
The FBI is carrying water for China and the corrupted democrats.
Saying again- Politico gets another fact wrong. The Capitol police security detail came accompanying Senator Rand Paul, not the Chief Whip of the House Scalise, all kudos to Scalise for his recovery and continuing tough support of Trump conservatism.
It was Rand Paul’s detail— who, if Paul was not there, would not have been there.
Whole segments of junior FBI personnel have been photographed, repeatedly “taking a knee” for Floyd in the actual presence of AntiFA RIOTERS. No more idiotic than that— they are on the clock and taking a POLITICAL position for their moronic political UNION politics. They certainly are children about it, but they are of the “we’re not good people” self hating and not doing a very good job of their WORK, generation.
