“I think what happened was that the kid thru or dropped the gun behind the fence and when he turned around the kid’s hand came out from behind the fence and the cop shot. He could not see his hands and then the kids right hand came out from behind the fence, and seemed to be empty, but by that time the trigger was pulled immediately. Hard to tell in this video even slowed down.”
I agree. I’ve stopped it at the 2:04 mark and 2:05 mark multiple times, sometimes getting a clearer image than others, and at 2:04 it appears he has something in his right hand that he’s attempting to drop behind the fence. In the clearer image at 2:05 his hands are empty, about shoulder height, and that’s when the officer fires his weapon.
That’s what I noticed as well. Couldn’t make out exactly what hit was but a split second later it is gone.
We know they found gun shot reside on his hands, so if he was firing he might have tried to ditch the now empty weapon, but from a distance it was likely impossible to determine. By the time the officer saw the gun-like object and pulled the trigger, the kid looks to have tossed it in that same second.
Who cares if the kid was armed at the particular split second the cop pulled the trigger? Put the onus on the piss poor judgment of this stupid kid and his handler who should have known that this wouldn’t end well instead of on the fallible human cop who is being paid to risk his/her life every day patrolling the streets to keep us safe.
I’m so sick of ppl on here demanding perfection out of LE 24/7 and giving obvious criminals every benefit of the doubt. Don’t wanna get shot in Chicago? Then stay home and don’t engage in criminal behavior in the middle of the night!
