It is common as dirt around here to take a job with the intention of getting fired as soon as possible to go back on the dole. Not so much now though with the extended unemployment to September.

I was lucky to have had my concrete driveway done a year ago. Have not seen any concrete ads this year on local Craigslist! Other skilled trades just as bad. So I am doing most of my own work, but slowly.

I know what you mean. Some of the professors and instructors I had in college in the 70’s were some of the weirdest people I have ever had to deal with. No social skills.

Outstanding!
At current pricing per annum cost is more than it would be for a meat sack, but a machine won’t call in sick, it won’t take smoke breaks, and it won’t run its stupid mouth at the customers.

There is no such thing as a labor shortage, only a wage shortage.

I went out to a couple of sit down restaurants recently. The service was very slow, and it appeared that just a couple of people were working. The number of customers was small, but even so, service was very slow. I suspect there was a shortage of hired help in the kitchen as well in the front of the house. If the number of customers is small then the restaurant is not going to lay on any more serving staff and cooks than absolutely necessary.
