You can die from a gunshot wound to pretty much anywhere. There is no such thing as “shoot to disable”. If you’re shooting, your are making the decision to take a life; be that decision justified or not.
“Shoot him in the leg!” is a suggestion to use deadly force every bit as much as “shoot him in the head!” And for the record, both are bad advice. Shoot center mass to stop the threat.
Ashli Babbitt was not a deadly threat to anyone. She should have been taken into custody for climbing through the window; not shot dead on the scene. She did nothing that day to warrant a summary execution.
‘Ashli Babbitt was not a deadly threat to anyone.’
well, at least we know she wasn’t covid positive, or else we would be counting her among the 550k; I’m surprised her death hasn’t been justified by her lack of a mask...
sarcasm aside, regarding gunshots, if left untreated long enough they will kill you regardless of the location; if the Civil War taught us anything, it was there is no ‘million dollar wound’ that got you out of the army without fear of death...a minie ball to the big toe, laughed off as non lethal, quickly became gangrenous, and you became a war casualty as surely as if you’d been shot through the brain...and the gold standard of ‘treatment’ was amputation...
I have seen multiple people bleed out in minutes from extremity hits. One was hit with 5.56 in the buttock dead in under two minutes. Another was an arm hit above the elbow also with 5.56 took most of the bicep out they were enemy combatants we didn’t bother to rush to aid them while their buddies were still shooting at us. F EM but I did get a healthy respect for what a 5.56 round can do at under 100 meters. The movies lead people to believe a arm or leg hit is no big deal walk it off kinda fantasy but people die every day from extremity hits.
