Got a low grade fever, and that night, the worst chills. I could NOT get warm. Lasted about 3 hours and then I was good to go.
Hehehe, even tho I am tested DAILY, I thought I had me a case of the 'rona....;)
I was wondering if they were Certainteed or Johns-Manville.
My case was just like a yellow jacket sting that lasted 3 weeks. Still, not good.
Two months ago, I got shingles on the right side of my face. Was HORRIBLE! I still feel two very small pin size nerves that were affected. Very painful and could hardly sleep.
I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I’ve been dealing with side-effects of my second shingles shot for several years now that has been worse than the case of shingles that I had.
I can’t get flu shots either due to n egg allergy.
Just my experiences
If your post means that you’ve contracted shingles, then you have my sympathy and prayers. Let me share what worked and didn’t work for me when I had it in 2015, followed by post-herpetic neuralgia. Took my doctor a while to find the right combination, especially for the PHN. Hope yours isn’t too bad.
What Worked, What it Does, What it is, Prescription or OTC

“When did Shingrix come out?”
Not sure...maybe 2018?
They say one in 3 people will get shingles. I’d recommend the vaccine. Shingrix is 2 doses, 2 to 6 months apart, I believe, and it’s much more effective than the Zostavax vaccine I had.
I have, and am also on allopurinol. Wonder drug. Shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia is many many times worse than gout. At least it was for me. Mine was on my face, right side of head, and scalp. Still in pain 6 years later, and lost 25% of my right side hearing.
Around here we use Bird Shingles - they’ll leave you shaking.
Thanks. My annual physical is this month - I plan on getting the shot now.
Exactly this! Shingles is not to be messed with. Given the opportunity, get the vaccine.

Painful barely describes it. Get the shots
The first dose of Shingrix was a tough one for me, basically like 5 days in bed afterwards. Second dose no problem.
But the guy doing some drywall on my house got shingles and I now totally understand how bad it could be. Really messed up one of his eyes. It was painful just to look at.
Also, doctors now say “take tylenol”
I got shingles last week. I’m on fentanyl and hydrocodone. The pain broke through it like I was on a sugar pill. Getting to the doctor early to start treatment will help shorten the suffering.
I’ll get the shot as soon as I’m allowed to.
I had opthalmic shingles about five years ago. It was bad but not epic nightmare horrifying because I immediately was put on antiviral medication the morning I woke up and saw welts around my right eye. The doctor said if you don’t start on an antiviral within the first 72 hours of the welts/pimples first appearing, the medication won’t do any good—you’re in for a rough and painful ride that can go on for weeks.
I missed four weeks of work defeating shingles, but thankfully the rash did not leave any scarring on my face and there was no permanent nerve damage. The disease is called “shingles” because you get a rash of pus-filled pimples which burst open, form scabs, but that’s not the end of it. Underneath the first layer of scabs is a second layer of pimples which burst, form more scabs, layer upon layer—kind of like asbestos shingles on a roof.
Since I’ve already had shingles and successfully defeated it, I’ve asked doctors and pharmacists if I should still get a shingles vaccine. I can’t get a consensus definite yes or no.
You may want to keep BHT on hand as amongst others it will kill herpes as well as the shingles virus, also other lipid covered viruses such as covid 19 as well, I have seen it work. It may be of interest to note that a patent had been filed with the number US4350707 for BHT because of its LIPID COVERED virus killing ability approximately 30 years ago, however in the meantime this patent has expired.
I have been using it off and on for the past thirty years whenever there as a need for it, as right now with covid making its rounds. As a suggestion go to Amazon and look up BHT, and look at some of the consumer commentaries in regards to BHT.
There is also a short video https://youtu.be/wtazbRr2VtA you may want to watch.
Take care & stay healthy and well.

Wow. I'll make sure I get the shingles vaccine. I could barely handle gout. I hope things get better for you and you can fully recover from the shingles episode.
