“Election integrity is one of the most critical issues we face as a party and as a country,” McDaniel said in making the announcement. “What we saw this past election – states undoing important safeguards, bypassing the proper legislative processes, and changing election laws in the eleventh hour – was deeply troubling and brought chaos and uncertainty to our sacred democratic processes.

And nobody in the GOP apparently had the balls to "clap back" at the governors and Democrat operatives for screwing with the election laws BEFORE the election. In fact, some of them made deals with these losers. Buzz off, Ronna Romney, and take your screwball party with you.

Restoring confidence in elections is important. But the bigger problem is that we don’t have confidence in the Republican party now. They finally went too far, and it’s obvious not only do they not care, they’re actively working for the enemy.

More theater from compromised swamp republicans.
Add to that a rudderless supreme court.
We have become ‘third world’...

I got this from Senator Rob Portman. I am so glad he's not running for re-election. He obviouslygot the message Pelosi and Schumer wanted him to get. The whole purpose of the Democrat riot in the US Capitol was to convey the message to Republicans to roll over and accept the fraudulent election. Message received as evidenced here:

Thank you for writing in to express your views regarding the Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald J. Trump. It is good to hear from you.

On January 6, 2021, then-President Trump gave a speech at a rally near the White House before some of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. In that speech, Trump encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol and many of them then stormed the building and tried to stop Congress from confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. During the tragic event, the U.S. Capitol was placed under lockdown and five people died, while dozens more were injured. On January 13, 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a single article of impeachment against then-President Trump, charging him with incitement of insurrection. The Senate has since held a trial and voted on whether to convict the former president. I voted against conviction, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to explain why.

Let me begin by saying that the siege of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 was an attack on democracy itself. That night, shortly after the rioters had been cleared from the Senate floor, I spoke to urge my colleagues to do our constitutional duty and support the state certifications of the election results as a signal that “we will not be intimidated” and that “mob rule is not going to prevail here.”

I have said that what President Trump did that day was inexcusable because in his speech he encouraged the mob, and that he bears some responsibility for the tragic violence that occurred. I have also criticized his slow response as the mob stormed the Capitol, putting at risk the safety of Vice President Pence, law enforcement officers, and others who work in the Capitol complex. Even after the attack, some of the language in his tweets and in a video showed sympathy for the violent mob. In response, I called on President Trump to “explicitly urge his supporters to remain peaceful and refrain from violence.”

However, the question I had to answer was not whether President Trump said and did things that were reckless and encouraged the mob. I believe that happened. The threshold question I had to answer was whether a former president can be convicted by the Senate in the context of an impeachment. This would have been unprecedented. Consistent with the two votes I had already taken during this process, I believe the Constitution reserves the narrow tool of impeachment and conviction for removal of current officeholders and current presidents, and does not apply to former officeholders or former presidents. Impeachment in the Constitution is fundamentally about removing someone from office.

I think the Framers of the Constitution understood that it would be inappropriate to allow Congress—an inherently political body—to convict former presidents. Instead, the appropriate place to address former officials’ conduct is the criminal justice system. In fact, the Constitution makes clear that former presidents are subject to the criminal justice system. That is where the issues raised by the former president’s inexcusable actions and words must be addressed.

I have a duty to uphold my oath to the Constitution and that’s why I voted as I did on the state certifications of the election on January 6, on the jurisdictional issue during the trial, and on the final vote on conviction. My decision in no way condones the president’s conduct. On the contrary, I was keeping my oath to the Constitution—one that I believe the president did not keep on January 6th.

Our country is already deeply divided. My decision was based on my reading of the Constitution, but I also believe the Framers understood that convicting a former president and disqualifying him or her from running again pulls people further apart. Instead, our task should be to help bridge the growing gaps that separate us. I will continue to do my part to try to find that common ground to bring our country together to address the many challenges we face.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact my office. It is an honor to represent you and your family in the United States Senate. For more information, you can visit my website at www.portman.senate.gov . Please keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Rob Portman

U.S. Senator

The Republican Party is a damn joke.

No. A large number of the D.C. Republican Party is a joke.

The vast majority of the Republican Party (over 75 million voters) is not a joke.

The Left very much wants to equate the few turncoats in D.C. with the entire Republican Party, so as splinter and destroy the opposition.

I will no longer be the battered spouse to the Republican Party. Over and over they promised to, repeal Obamacare. They told us, just give them the House majority then the Senate and they would really deliver. And we worked hard and contributed only to be spat upon as the Republicans sat by and watched Trump get roasted. They gave nothing for the wall. Paul Ryan, Liz Cheney, the 145 secret voters, the 7 Senators voting to impeach. Lindsey Graham constantly telling us to stay tuned while he never ever does anything but talk out of both sides of his mouth. Mitt Romney, and the list goes on.

No, I now despise the Republican Party. They need to wither and die.

They have done the math.

If 80 million deploreables donate just $5/month to President Trump’s (Get rid of 2 faced republicans), we can have an incredible impact on elections.

If we gave $10 per month to President Trump’s (Get rid of 2 faced republicans), we can have a more incredible impact on elections.

Burn the GOP down.
It took 20 years to collapse the Whig party, it may take 6-10 years present day, but it has to be done. GOPe is flush with money from multi-corps, MIC, etc, so bleeding them financially is hopeless. Every 2 years the GOPe shears conservatives for our votes, then puts us to pasture for the next shearing season. The GOP don’t need us, and we don’t need them, I’m tired of being sheared for my vote then told to go away.

Bite the bullet now, not later. As painful as it will be to endure, let the Dems have super majorities. He!!, by de facto they already have super majorities w our complaisant RINOs.

When Mitch and his band of RINOs in both Houses lose their ability to be a deal makers, they will retire. 6-10 years to collapse the GOP and it will not be difficult to not vote for Nikie Haley in 2024. PDJT will not be allowed to win the 2024 primary, a 3rd party PDJT vote will speed up the GOP collapse. Vote all State elections, that is our farm system where our future conservative stars will come from.

Again, burn down the GOP!!!

Yes, all of the corrupt politicians, including many Republicans, are falling over themselves to get in line to be part of investigating election integrity. But after the special investigations, senate panels, congressional blabfest, nothing will be done about it until after the next election. McConnell is a piece of crap. #turtle

I’ve said that if this scam is not exposed and dealt with, I’ll never vote again.

But I have a new plan: If they suddenly care, I’ll vote straight democrat in 2022. I’ve only voted for one democrat in my life.

I’m through with this uniparty. They’ve sewn the wind, They can reap the whirlwind. Spineless empty suits.

"...the Republicans now want to look into election integrity."

So the national Republican administrators are going to do all of the work for those in loser states, who do nothing but complain, slander and try to demoralize conservative voters? Each state regulates its own election processes. There's not much that congressmen can do. False conservatives in the loser states should pitch with their tiny groups of Republicans to help do their duty.

The Republican Party is Donald Trump's party, and I'm in favor of Donald Trump and all of his supporters winning again.

No, not astonishing.

Completely understandable. They have lost income, lost a good chunk of their base voters, and might be just a little scared after the events of Jan. 6th.

Unlike democrats who are ‘loyal,’ they know we are only loyal to freedom, liberty, the Constitution...not a party. Millions have said they’ll never vote again, still believe there was significant voter fraud(and there was), and won’t be bothered with voting if something isn’t done to insure our elections.
