Why is there a standing army tens of thousands strong in the capitol? For what purpose?

A liberal Democrat slipped up last week and actually answered this question. Ted Lieu said that as long as Trump has not admitted his role in organizing the Capitol riot and as long as he has not apologized for stirring up the insurrectionists, there will always be troops at the Capitol.
In case Trump decides to declare another riot.
Is it this wonderful? I can only hope that they are intending to build more parking garages for the troops.
Considering he never incited the first one, that’s a really lame excuse.
And consider the democrats orchestrated the violence and we now have not only witness stagements but video proof of them trying to stop the dmeocrat plants doing their stuff...
