Governor Greg Abbott Calls For Texas to Become a Second Amendment Sanctuary State

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is trying to prevent Democrats from treading on Texans’ gun rights, calling on his state to become a “sanctuary” for the Second Amendment.

In his State of the State address last week, Abbott said, “Texas must be a Second Amendment sanctuary state.”

“Politicians from the federal level to the local level have shouted: ‘Heck yes, the government is coming to get your guns,'” he said. “We won’t let that happen in Texas.”

Abbott’s comments are a direct reference to Beto O’Rourke, the Texas Democrat who has hinted he might challenge for the governorship in 2022.

All he has to do is authorize open or concealed carry by anyone, anytime.

I’ve wanted to see that for a long time. I think it’s already been proposed, but got nowhere sometime the past 2 years. Now it might have a better chance, and Abbott is openly calling for it.

I’ve thought about a CCP, but don’t want my name on that list. It’s bad enough I’m already on the background check list multiple times...democrats will use that as their go to list for confiscation.

Other states are doing the same sanctuary policy too, missouri just recently, for one. I say we should join them.

Extend that to suppressors and select fire and I might be impressed with Grabbot. As usual, he sees a parade going by and decides to lead it and claim credit.

How about STOPPING the illegals crossing our texas border with an emergency EO because of covid?! Flip the tables on the dirty evil rats and their open border policies and Bidens EO!! DO IT NOW! The governor has the power when its citizens are in peril. Do it Before our cases spike again because of those carrying the virus... border city mayors will surely lock us down again.

I pretty much got the CCP under duress. One positive is allows instant purchase of weapons.

What drove it home was almost getting taken to jail one night in Hico TX on the way to the deer lease. I hunt with a single shot pistol which was in a case on the floor with the rest of my hunting junk on top of it. (bad weather) The cat could figure out what was going on but that wasn’t enough for him.

Did the Governor see his shadow or the shadow of his primary opponent?

Yeah, but FedGov doesn’t bother obeying the Constitution, which is why states need to be willing both to nullify AND to use force to enforce that nullification.

Here we go again. No talk, no action. Texas wanted to secede under Bammy...no deal. Texas threatened article 10...nullification. didn’t happen. We are on the slippery slop to communism, where are those with nuts to stop it? Go along to get along. Rhetoric to appease those flustered.

All hat and no cattle.

Push through Constitutional Carry first, then get back to us, Governor.

Half of the six New England states have Constitutional Carry. Texas should have CC too.

Deputize millions of gun-owning Texans and send them to the Rio Grande.

Establish a Texas Navy with patrol boats on the Rio Grande.

End the freebies to illegals.

Eighty-six of Virginia’s 95 counties have passed such sanctuary measures opposing restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms. They suggest that the counties might not enforce new state laws limiting gun rights.
