Very true! Back when I first started teaching in public schools (1980s), we teachers determined our own curricula. The math teachers would meet as a group, the English teachers would meet as a group, etc. We knew what our kids needed.
That all changed around 2005. As you noted, Ed majors with the latest garbage “research” took over. I told a story about that in my post #17.
In Engineering school, we occasionally had classes in the Education building.
I was shocked to see paper dolls on the walls. People were getting college degrees for doing that.
And now they think they can impose their birdbrained crap on us. Beyond stupid.
