The question is a rhetorical one, I'm sure, given the source, but if anyone remains to be convinced it might be instructive to drill down one level on the firearms sales not at how much is selling but at what. Deer rifles aren't hot. Trap and skeet shotguns aren't hot. AR-15's, AKM's, and tactical shotguns are hot. Cowboy revolvers aren't hot. Concealable, high-capacity semiautomatic pistols are. Hunting licenses aren't hot. Concealed carry permits are hot. Deer ammo isn't hot. .223/5.56 and 9mm are hot.

The country is preparing for war. That does not mean that it's inevitable but it does answer the title question.

And a single issue. POWER.

These are the days our forefathers spoke of.

Similar to the speech made by Stephen before they stoned him.

His crime was reminding them of their history.

Because a lot of people see a repeat of the 1970s on the horizon, except with Dogecoin.

I don’t get the silver part. It’s worthless if the SHTF. It’ll be all about bartering

Silver is mainly for preservation of wealth. When the shtf is over and your fiat currency has been declared worthless, use silver and gold to purchase the new currency.

Also if there is a huge run-up in value before the shtf, use it to buy a bunch of land.

I would propose that the country is preparing for uncertainty.

The US is facing a probable economic death spiral but it won’t go all the way to barter, barring major EMP strikes and all out war. The likely future can be seen in 1970s socialist UK, known then as “the sick man of Europe” for its stagnant economy and demoralized populace struggling under heavy government mismanagement. It took Maggie Thatcher to save its bacon.

well as has been said... the Midwest enjoys a degree of insulation from drastic changes.... There’s still relatively little ethnic or religious diversity, there’s plenty of space to own land, prices aren’t too high, there’s not too much traffic congestion and, in an environment this familiar, people can afford to be friendly. .....For better or for worse, depending on who you ask, the region provides a gentle cushion against the pressures of twenty-first century America.

“We have seen a wild riot at the U.S. Capitol, civil unrest has been erupting in major cities from coast to coast, millions of people have filed for unemployment benefits, a president was impeached, and a crazy ride on Wall Street made “GameStop” a national phenomenon.”

I’m disappointed in this list. How could this survivalist squirrel forget about the 50 million ChiComm troops hiding behind the sagebrush in the southwest since 1992?

And why weren’t the UN armored vehicles sitting on flatbed rail cars in Montana since 1994 not mentioned?

And don’t forget that we were all scheduled to be rounded up and sent to camps during the Clinton presidency. What happened?

"Why? These things can be used to barter for toilet paper!"

Exactly!

The funniest part is that if the electricity stops, then water and sewer stops. Especially water. 60 to 70 percent of the country is dead in three to four weeks. Think EMP. They are so worried about covid. With no sanitation, Typhus is the big killer.
