Are Democrats afraid of Donald Trump running again because they don't believe Joe Biden's victory was legitimate? If Democrats believed Biden won without any tricks they wouldn't be so afraid of a possible rematch. If Biden defeated Trump once in a legitimate election Biden should be able to defeat Trump a second time.

I suspect the Democrats are more than up to the challenge.
Certainly true as long as Republican controlled state legislatures remain cowardly.
They are afraid if Trump running again for the same reason they are afraid of open discussion of any rightist ideas or of rightist philosophy - because they know, if it were allowed, our side would prevail.
Not just dems.. many repukes don’t want him to run again either.
I don’t think they are afraid of a ‘rematch’.
They’re afraid of something much more immediate - the influence that President Trump has had, and will continue to have in any of his future endeavors, on our thought.
I’m a pretty old lady now, and I can’t recall a president who has ever acquired so much popular support and loyalty in my lifetime. (Reagan is the only one who comes close.)
They’re terrified of that.

President Trump is a huge threat to them because they could never beat him into submission and had to use every element of their power to prevent his reelection—vote rigging through a combination of machines, laws, and who does the counting; media collusion to call it for Biden and label claims to the contrary as baseless; Big Tech-enforced censorship to insert their message when they detect contrary posts and videos while continuing to ban the loudest voices; and every level of the judiciary, led by the corrupt Supreme Court, to block and delegitimize all challenges.
In compiling that list, I think they're actually grateful to President Trump for allowing them to accelerate their timetable for taking over and controlling the country through force in full-view with almost no opposition.
Which leads us to your point that having gotten here like this and having added a so-called insurrection to their list of justifications for what they're doing, they are in a position to really take out everything in their path and they're going for it. Marjorie Taylor Greene will soon have company in the no committee assignments caucus, more financial institutions will rat out their clients to the feds with the criteria going beyond the events of January 6, and the purge of the military will serve as the model for purges in other areas.

The Dems are doubling down on making sure they continue to control the election process. Cancelling 100 million future DJT votes is not a process they feel confident of pulling off twice.
