If you have flu symptoms you will probably be tested for Covid. The test is via PCR (polymerase chain reaction) Until recently we used 40 to 45 cycles of amplification to determine a positive case. The more amplifications the higher the probability of a false positive. Thus, I suspect many cases of flu are diagnosed as covid.
Now that Trump is no longer president the CDC magically recommends 33 amplification cycles.
Fauxi, the CDC, and the WHO do lie. Sometimes it is just a straight forward lie or lies of omission. Lies of omission is when they used “selected data” to come to a predetermined decision.

We are 10 months into this thing and the death toll of COVID is negligible and the lockdowns are totally unjustified. I would not brag about being a clinician because the reputation of medicine is in the toilet lately.

You miss my point. If the symptoms used to diagnose the flu are very similar to, almost indistinguishable, from CV19 and if no one was testing either for the flu or for CV19, how do we know that CV wasn’t misdiagnosed as the flu in 2019? IOW, perhaps CV19 should be called CV17 or CV18? The only timeline for the emergence of CV19 is Chinese data which is not uniformly considered so trustworthy, right?
It’s the other side of the coin. If you believe we’re categorizing flu cases as CV19 now, how do you know we weren’t misdiagnosing CV19 as the flu much earlier?

Yes, that’s certainly true. And conversely, flu is being misdiagnosed as Covid now, which skews the statistics in a major way. But they’re very eager to get more Covid diagnoses...and actually, at the same time, they wouldn’t have wanted to think that it was around in 2019 and we aren’t all dead.
Cases appear to be lower because the huge spikes of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s have finally passed.
We are exactly where we were a few days before Thanksgiving.
Imagine how much better things would be if all those people hadn’t insisted on traveling to large family gatherings? They acted selfishly and against their own country’s recommendations, and we have paid the price and will continue to pay it.
Had to go back and read the the inception of this and not taking it back.
30 million people, on the low side, since they have been keeping records get the flu and magically a bit over 1,000 have contracted the flu and the stench from fish has no effect on you?

Perhaps, but that is very speculative. So far none of our public health officials have demonstrated credibility in how to fight this pandemic. None of their other recommendations have proven effective so why should we think their recommendations on family gatherings would be effective.

That last stats I really paid attention to, which convinced me flu cases are being counted as Covid, came from mid-December. Flu cases for the week of December 13 — IIRC — were around 40 for the ENTIRE country, down from over 7700 the year before. That’s statistically impossible, even with masking and social distancing. And the five year average of folks testing positive for the flu was around 15%, down to .2% in 2020. Another statistical impossibility.
I could understand if those numbers were half, maybe even a quarter of the annual average — maybe — but the numbers given are impossible unless they are being counted as Covid. It’s also not coincidence that the Covid spikes happened at the same time the flu was “eradicated.”
Zacty but, for the CDC to report on January 16 they have recorded a bit north of 1,000 flu case for the season requires a suspension of oxygen for 7 minutes so my then addled brain can wrap its head around the fraud....
Of course, I’ll need someone to count cadence so I’ll remember to breathe but, that’s my problem...
And a lot of the same folks who are telling us we’re not masking and social distancing enough are telling us we’ve eradicated the flu because we’re masking and social distancing enough.

lol whatever. My wife works in the medical field and manages teams that deal directly with coding. What you’re saying is simply not true. I’m sure you believe it, but that’ doesn’t mean that it’s true or even possible.
Covid test and flu tests are two different tests. Hospitals still test for flu. Additionally - the ways in which the CDC came up with their numbers for flu deaths in the past is highly suspect. The extrapolated (vs count) the numbers based on small subsets. Frankly - the flu deaths in the past were likely much smaller than actually recorded.
I believe COVID is being exploited and I don’t trust the tests any more than you. But the issue here is the flu is a known quantity, we know how it works, there’s a rational and reasonable explanation for the reduction in numbers and it’s a combination of precautions that work AND we’re actually looking for and counting things.
Frankly, if we ever return to historical flu deaths it’s because the CDC is getting lazy again.
Now this is the fist plausible explanation I’ve seen that could make unwitting accomplices out of so many medical professionals. I’ll reach out to my local folks and see what they think of what you’re saying. Thanks for the intelligent post.
Of course the COVID death toll is negligible, the liars are identifying every death as a Covid death, especially the flu and pneumonia. The real numbers of COVID deaths are about equal to the bad flu season.
I have news for you, the flu and pneumonia never really went away to a 130 year low, they just claimed that the infections were COVID.
And the medical profession is by no means any more moralistic than any other. The German medical professionals went for Hitler and his holocaust / eugenics program in a big way. Here in America compulsory sterilization laws adopted by over 30 states led to more than 60,000 involuntary sterilizations of disabled individuals by eugenicist doctors. Mighty noble of those doctors to rip away the futures of more than 60,000 Americans.
I think too many doctors have quit looking at patients as people and see them as only problems to be fixed or eliminated.
