Boycott the Boycotters
Janitor's view ^ | January 22, 2021 | Reasonmclucus

Donald Trump's voters need to recognize that companies like Twitter and Facebook don't want to do business with us. So we should stop trying to do business with them. For example, someone with money in an anti-Trump bank could withdraw the money and deposit it in a pro-Trump bank. Maybe a conservative news site could keep a list of companies that don't want our business

We need to pick a precise target. Bank of America, Bank United, NY City, Twitter, Facebook, etc. and go large. Make a determinable painful impact. We need a pelt.

This will never end until they understand financial consequences.

Just about any of the corporations that make all these lists are once that I do not use. The only exceptions are Amazon and Apple, and I have really curbed my use of Amazon lately too because it’s about the only place I can find to make a difference.

I don’t use any of those banks, google, facebook, twitter, khols, bath & body works, etc.

I agree. I think we should focus on one company and all act simultaneously.

Boycott? I call it consumers choice. I call it freedom.

I stream my news. I do not want to fund the LEFTIST media so I do not have cable tv. The way cable tv is set up, it forces you to fund every channel in the basic bundle whether you watch it or not. I stream conservative news sites(OANN, newsmax, America’s Voice) and patronize their advertisers.

I buy local/generic brands where possible. Name a national name brand that is not pushing the WOKE/LEFTIST agenda. They fund the LEFTIST media. There are exceptions, GOYA, MyPillow. Any others?

And of course, I am not on any of the pro censorship big tech.

That is my choice as a free American.

“We need to pick a precise target. Bank of America, Bank United, NY City, Twitter, Facebook”

I avoid three for various reasons and a fourth for business reasons.

No ‘rat corporation deserves my patronage.

I’m not as vindictive as Hillary Clinton, but I have a good memory.

In the last week I have:
- closed my Facebook page (never used it anyway
- turned off YouTube TV
- switched away from AT&T (saving about $65/month in the process)
- deleted Mozilla and Safari in favor of Brave

I previously switched away from Bank of America for their anti gun policies.

I’m looking for an alternative to Black Rifle Coffee now that I learned the owner is a Lefty posing the company as being with the Right.

I am deplatforming my enemies from my wallet. It feels great and I’m saving money doing so.

“patronize their advertisers”

I avoid most conservative sites due to advertising overload.

Short term I agree with this strategy. But long term I think we need to consider long and hard how our society can back away from demanding that everyone and everything take a political stand on whatever the left (or current powers-that-be) favors. This is especially true with corporations, organizations and companies which are really a combination of individuals probably all along the political spectrum. Does a corporate statement represent the owner? the board of directors? the shareholders? the employees? the customers? To what extent do statements by the AMA, the ABA, the NEA and APA represent the views of its members? These organizations are taking stands because they are being pressured from outside or from woke employees or customers. That is corrosive to business and to the stability of capitalism. I’m not sure what the solution is but surely investigating the pressure groups is a start.

I already don’t use Amazon much but last month xi did buy a book from them (ironically a gun book) because they were significantly cheaper than anybody else. Now I’ll refuse to do even that.

This phone is the very last Apple product I will ever buy.
