Should Trump create The Patriot Party or reform the GOP?
The Conservative Brief ^ | 1/20/21 | Martin Walsh

This is a serious question. There are pros and cons of reforming the GOP and creating The Patriot Party. Is starting a new party better or purging the GOP of corruption and self-interests.

So you saying one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had is a total idiot.

Now exactly where did I say that?
Read my post again.
If Trump follows this disastrous path, it will be just like when he appointed Wray as FBI Director, Jeff Sessions as AG, his refusal to dismiss Fauci and Wray who were clearly actively working to undermine President Trump etc.
If you like I will draw up a longer list of catastrophic decisions that President Trump made in the last 4 years.
Following this new party path will be yet another really bad decision by Presided Trump.
You never cut your nose to spite your face.

I see you're problem now

It's “your” not “you're”.
And its not me who has the problem. It's you.
You are going to need to use your gray matter for a change instead of going by pure emotion.

Is that why the GOP won more state legislatures , counties etc than before in 2020?

That wasn't GOP driven, but Trump driven. Mny in Congress now rode in his wave. It was Trump, not the GOP that generated a wave of voters.

The need for a new party needs serious consideration. It would have the potential to draw conservatives, libertarians, independents; even ex-democrats and liberals. Sorry, but the GOP just can't do that.

So today, I say take over the GOP. Besides, I like being part of the party of Lincoln

Yes.
You are never going to get your way 100% in any political party, even if Trump forms a new party, there will be plenty of arguments and debates over all kinds of issues. Its the nature of political parties to have disagreements over issues.

You think the large donors will give money to a new Trump Party instead of to the GOP do you?

************

In fact I hope they don’t. I don’t want them buying influence. That’s the root of the GOP’s evil.

If only half of the Trump voters donate a paltry $25 the new party could bring in $750,000,000. Build it and they will come.

I would happily donate many times that to even have the hope of a party that has some principles.

The GOP will never get another dime from me. It only encourages the scoundrels to continue fleecing their voters.

All true.
But...if you create a new party, and the rump GOP manages to keep even 30% of the old Republican vote, just how many seats do you think we are going to win in a country where the electorate is evenly divided between the Republicans and the Dems? You split the Republican votes and the Dems win by default.

We lived in California when Pete Wilson was governor, San Diego was firmly in red territory and Orange County was the definition of a conservative enclave.

Then the borders gushed illegals and it all went to a third world hell hole.

Please tell me how the republicans cause that or could have prevented it.

That may very well be, but then it was you who made this post in 96 in which you claimed the rump GOP will have "no money” and I quote from your post 96:

“The GOP will implode with no support, no money, no confidence,”

I was pointing out that the rump GOP will get plenty of money from the large donors. They will not be short of money at all like you seemed to think.

Great time to set up a new party:

The American Party.

The GOP will eventually die out or its last followers will simply become Dems or Independents.

The American Party would eventually become the 2nd party to fight the Dems.

A third party will give us a 34% president someday, if we go back to having elections.

Otoh, the dinosaur party is long past any hope of reform.

He should work on draining K Street.

Wrong. When the GOP can’t produce victories because of the exodus of (formerly gullible) voters their donors will quickly disappear. Those monied interests pay for results which leads to influence. When that’s gone they leave. They’re not going to pay for nothing.

The GOP is corrupt, and you’ll never get rid of all of them. That would take time too, and there’s no guarantee it would even work.

Since you’re unable to recall your own words here they are:

”Of course it will be a totally stupid decision.” Post #113

”No third parties. Even the far left Dems like AOC, Bernie Sanders, etc are not stupid enough to do that”. #7

Trump isn't perfect or above criticism. But no one who accomplished as much as he did in four years is as as stupid as you think he is. You're obviously emotionally invested in your opinions.

"A new party! We need a second party."

I agree. I won't be voting for anyone with an R behind their name ever again. I'm done with voting in elections. 35 years a Republican, and I'm done being lied to and abused. If I wanted to have that kind of relationship, I would have just kept my ex-husband. Got rid of him back in '79, a whole lot sooner than I shed the Republican Party.

Yeah.
Just like the Dem donors “quickly disappeared” when the Dems lost everything (presidency, House and Senate) in 2016, yes? /sarc
Reality, the big donors will continue to fund the Republican Party whether they lose some elections or not. In fact a Trump Party will make the big donors donate even more to the GOP cause they watt to crush Trump.

I think there is a difference between a "third party" as we've historically seen and a "Trump party" that capitalizes on his immediate cult of personality.

To that end, a Trump-led Patriot Party will be like the Libertarian Party on steroids at the ballot box. In the 2022 mid-term election, it will split the Republican ticket so much that the Democrat will win every race. This may be the fastest way to purge feckless RINOs from the GOP.

The difficulty of reforming the GOP from within is that the primary elections are heavily controlled by the establishment and voter turnout is traditionally low. Let the GOP have their primary, less the defected Patriot Party voters. Wait until the general election for the Patriot Party to vote and split the Republican vote in order to oust the establishment RINO. Then, run a conservative in 2022 on the Republican ticket in the 2024 primary.

The game will be different in 2024. The goal here is to deny the Democrat 270 Electoral College votes and throw the election into the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold the majority of state delegations. The strategy here is to turn disaffected Democrats away from their extreme left-wing party. Emphasize that "their party left them."

A possible scenario is this:

  1. Democrats always overplay their hand. They will rush to pass an extreme left-wing agenda, and Pelosi and Schumer will be all over the news saying that it's "mainstream."
  2. Democrats will show their incompetence at managing Big Government. They may be good at throwing "problems" at Republicans in charge, but they are not good at managing the day-to-day inner workings of things.
  3. Tax increases will hurt the blue-collar Democrat as their wages stagnate again or their jobs disappear.
  4. Centrist Democrats would reject the leftward lurch of the party. They may have tolerated the talk when they were in the minority, but they will want no part of it when it looks like it will really happen. Boys in the girl's bathroom at Target was manageable, just don't shop at Target. But when it comes to their daughters' schools it's another matter. Boys beating girls at girl's sports, men dressed as women teaching children altered history, these will be too much for many working-class Democrats to bear.
  5. If they speak out about the loss of control of the raising of their children, they will be canceled. They will find themselves finally living the last line of the famous poem, "Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me."

If a Trump-led Patriot Party strengthens from 2022 to 2024, a Patriot Party candidate might siphon enough Electoral College votes such that nobody will reach 270. I suspect that the House will still be heavily dominated by old-guard GOP, so the Republican candidate will win, but the damage to the GOP will be done and become metastasized. 2026 will see a big #walkaway from the historical parties and 2028 might see the first President from a new Patriot Party.

Alternatively, 2026 will see the Patriot Party merge back into the Republican Party, but in control, and 2028 will see the new Republican Party win the White House outright.

Donald Trump tried to take over the GOP.

They colluded with Democrats to cheat him out of office.

if Trump could not take over the GOP, it can’t be done.

GOP - RIP
