FWIW - the route security or outer perimeter security, ala the NG soldiers yesterday, are told to look outwards for threats and not sit and stare at the security bubble of the motorcade.
I don’t draw any conclusions from what happened yesterday about the National Guard other than one unit, the one who came to attention and saluted, apparently missed the memo.
There will be plenty of legitimate cause of criticism and perhaps speculation in the next 4 years, but the whole “they turned their back on him” thing is the same kind of clickbait crap that had people believing in 4D chess.
Give him a break, he was probably in a hurry to get to the Official Presidential Diaper Changing Station.

That’s fair. Maybe it’s too early to see the signs. But for a Marine, me, it irks me quite a bit. Being that I’m in this area and I work with several NG people; I’m not saying this was anything other than playing roadguard either.
I get my news secondhand these days because even on Newsmax and OAN (even yesterday) there are these talking heads that will smooth out apparent wrinkles and quickly cover the sleeve that has jokers and aces protruding from beneath and make doves fly out of the other. I’d wager you’ll agree that 2020 was a great year of deception and I’m a very observant person. Maybe yesterday was the first day of a presidency, so he gets that initial waiver. However, -(p) Joseph Robinette Biden knows ALL about procedure around the WH and knows HOW to deal with the Marines. We used to MAKE our officers salute by keeping our “knife” punctuated at the corner of our eyelid until they returned it.
I also want to point out that Joe doesn’t know who he can trust from the WH unit anymore than he did the 30k NG brought in for security.
Actually, I’m in the less than 4 years for Mr. Biden, unfortunately. His disease is visible and maybe Pelosi was telling 99% of the truth when she said the 25thA wasn’t being reviewed for Trump at the time she said it.
Biden wants unity but has need to re-establish the WHO, UN, Paris Accords, and probably will re-enact NAFTA and the ObamaCARE mandate to supplement our push for double-MASKED society and our inevitable return to the doctors for lack of oxygen intake and CO2 dispersal.
May the Holy Trinity accept our repentance for our sins as well as theirs.

...and reconstitutes my opinion that Biden was absent yesterday in some form. Jill also has 8 years as first lady around Marines and knows customs and courtesies.
Fun fact, the Marines’ for the longest had a regulation going way back that a salute also applied to single ladies, akin to knights lifting their helmet visor, I guess. My buddies and I used to salute girls in civvies when I was stationed at Lejeune. Haha.
I guess that didn’t cover presidential spouses in the WH...

When I said “From a Marine”, I was talking about myself. I should have been more precise in my statement.
Regardless of the actual video in which it has now been discovered happened prior to his oath of C-i-C, I took offense as it seemed like Joe was dismissing or avoiding the salute initiation. The fact is that this may all be hyperbole to start conflict. Let the media talkingheads discuss this with their panels, and I’ll sit back and wait for FR to feed me what I need to know, as I don’t listen to anyone anymore except after the fact in a research mode. The exception is Rush, as I’ll get a fair assessment about this and everything else that he deems credible and important.

It’s coming out that this occurred before he was sworn in. Biden was not official yet. My take.
17 years seven months...after 18 you are in a safe status
Story isn’t complicated. Obama wanted a drawdown starting in 2014 and they were looking for any little thing to dwindle numbers. By 2016, they changed perimeters to whole rank length versus past-3-year occurrences. I had a dispute with a platoon sergeant in 2006 my first month as a Staff Sergeant that was reflected on a NCOER but was overturned with little regard. However, with benefits and pay for someone with over 20 years, it was more of a “reason” to “justify” the honorable separation and not the real “reason” of the 100k “pricetag.”
I’m better for it, in the long run, but I am appealing to get reserve status so I can actually retire.
