Story isn’t complicated. Obama wanted a drawdown starting in 2014 and they were looking for any little thing to dwindle numbers. By 2016, they changed perimeters to whole rank length versus past-3-year occurrences. I had a dispute with a platoon sergeant in 2006 my first month as a Staff Sergeant that was reflected on a NCOER but was overturned with little regard. However, with benefits and pay for someone with over 20 years, it was more of a “reason” to “justify” the honorable separation and not the real “reason” of the 100k “pricetag.”
I’m better for it, in the long run, but I am appealing to get reserve status so I can actually retire.
