I agree with your sentiment. This build-up is far too big, too early, and too well organized as just a ‘better safe than sorry’ security operation for the inauguration.

False flag a la Vegas to build a narrative that conservatives are dangerous, all for the long terms goal of gun legislation that enough repubs will cave to? The optics of all these troops being there and something major still happening would certainly do it, especially with it happening in what they think of as their turf. Just think of what CNN and the likes would be like for weeks. Even fauxnews with Hannity and Tucker would tow the line.
