All truisms, which is why I chose the 40 SW.
Starts with a 4, better penetration velocity and energy than 9 or 45 in similarcsized platforms.
My edc is either a G27 with 2 extra mags for 31 rnds of 180 hps, or a SW40 and three 15 rnd mag for 45 total.
I may only need a few but too much available is never unwise.
