We have a “Monarchy”?

No, we have a Supreme Soviet and a Politburo supported by the Nomenklatura, countless Apparatchiks and tens of millions of useful idiots.

Do you know what all our Founding Fathers are doing right now? They are sitting in the recliners of the Cloud of Witnesses and they are watching to see if our Republic is going to hold. Chances are they know already the outcome. But I bet they are still eating popcorn.

Aristotle observed that "Republics decline into democracies and democracies degenerate into despotisms."

It's a natural progression, like erosion. It can't be completely stopped. The best that can be done is to slow it down. Trump slowed it down as well as he could, but without him (whether he's out this month or four years from now), the fall into the abyss will accelerate. Reaching the point where a presidential election is stolen right out in the open for all to see shows we're past the event horizon where there's even any hope of significantly slowing it down anymore.

A writing style that almost equals the writings of Free Republic’s gone-but-not-forgotten Firehat (now *there* was a writer!)

Ben has kicked the dust of this putrid, perverted country off the soles of his feet. He wouldn’t shed a tear for the communist/fascist oligarchy it has become.

Seems like a day for ranting, so here is mine:

The idea behind republican government is keeping power located at its most efficacious level. We can complain about the actions of the national government and the national parties, but it is clear that we, the people, have ceded way too much power to those entities. The reason is mostly cowardice and laziness. We convinced ourselves that government ought to solve our problems and ceded power to local governments. Local governments didn’t want to or couldn’t deal with the problems so they ceded power to the state governments. State governments didn’t want to make unpopular decisions so they ceded power to the federal government. Federal politicians didn’t want to be responsible to the people so they ceded power to the major political parties. So here we are, with the federal government and its apparachiks and nomenclatura handing down diktats from above.

The problem was long in growing, like the cancer you mentioned, and its cure will be long in coming but it begins with us, as individuals, exercising and reclaiming control over our own lives and away from depending on government at all levels.

I suspect, though, few will be willing to do so because it involves pain and taking responsibility for our own problems. If we would reclaim our power and our republic, every segment of society needs to make sacrifices.

Oldsters need to stop expecting to live an opulent lifestyle on government dole and ensure they have the wherewithal to support themselves with minimal government money. They need to pull away from wasting their time listening to nihilistic and materialistic talkers and celebrities and, in general, acting like twenty-somethings dating and mating without serious thought. They need to honestly evaluate their contributions to parties and organizations which seem determined to destroy the republic and work to reform those organizations.

Middle-agers need to take responsibility to keep themselves financially independent and away from poor habits that destroy their health. They need to stop idolizing professional athletes and celebrities who are entertaining but live hedonistic lifestyles and leave broken relationships and heart in their wake. They need to actively support small businesses and local organizations and shun products from dictator nations and woke companies.

Parents need to educate their children independent of the public schools. They need to actively monitor the school curriculum and influencers of their children and counter ideas that destroy self-worth and potential. They need to stop competing with each other on Facebook and Instagram and turn off the television and video games much more often.

Employers need to stop putting Ivy League graduates on a pedestal. They need to end political correctness in the workplace and separate industry from politics. They need to band together to protect their rights and bring accountability to abusive government regulations and regulators.

Young adults needs to stop worshipping airbrushed celebrities who are the embodiment of fakery and lies. They need to stop the worship of Ivy League schools and fight against political correctness. They need to stop mindlessly listening to music and other entertainment which preaches values contrary to a republican people.

We all need to step away from “Big Tech” and support of oligarchs who want to rule our lives. We need to get away from Facebook and Amazon and so many other companies who are preaching wokeness. We need to pay attention to those seeking power over us at all levels and do what we can to stop them from getting that power. We all need to return to the idea of personal righteousness and find religion (yes, religion) that preaches such along with the truth. (We can hardly call upon our representatives in government to straighten up their act if we are unwilling to do so.) We need to be willing to speak truth with dignity and compassion and sometimes suffer the consequences. We need to stop supporting the destruction of personal responsibility and stop considering charity as a way to keep problems out of our sight. We need to stop isolating ourselves and invest in support groups aside from government agencies so when hard times comes, there is someone around to help keep us going. We need to mend family rifts and concentrate on strengthening the home before the Senate. If we want the power of a republican nation, we must accept the responsibility and consequences that go with it.

In sum, we physicians need to heal ourselves first, remove the beam from our own eyes, and live our lives so that if everyone had the same morals, the world would be a better place. As I said, I don’t expect this to happen. We (and I am including myself in this) are too comfortable in our particular sins and weaknesses but, if we want God to save us from ourselves (and we need that), we must be willing to try to be worthy of that help.
