REVIEW: Wonder Woman 1984
https://scifiscribe.com/2020/12/25/review-wonder-woman-1984/
My son was 17...said Wonder Woman had nice eyes. Hmmmmmmm
Some of Steve Trevor’s comrades in the first Wonder Woman movie were part of a World War II Mercernary Group knowns as the Blackhawks. That would be a great movie. Another great DC movie would be The Haunted Tank but that will never see the light of day
The 2017 WW was very good.
It was set in WW 1
Watched it this afternoon. HORRIBLE!
Ridiculous plot, bad acting. Silly nonsense.
Kristin Wiig sucked.
“The Haunted Tank”

Wow.
Never heard of that one. Read a description of the comic book bit and it does sound like it would be a great movie. And, yes, it would probably never be able to be made in this crazy bit of time.
A super hero today is someone willing to tell the truth.
I am watching g it now.
Don’t bother. It is horrible. Just horrible.
And I love “Superhero” movies. This one is just bad.
The 2017 movie was a horrible mishmash of CGI and confusion. So this one is likely worse.
We watched the first half tonight before bedtimes became an issue and will finish up tomorrow.
Without spoiling anything, thus far there’s a lot of cheese and questionably serious acting to play up the 1980’s setting and even to advance the plot. Those parts are not good, they could have been done to the same comedic effect in a much more effective manner if they weren’t so tacky. There are also some really good superhero movie moments and you can still enjoy them to the same level as the first movie. There’s also a theme of how much more forward men used to be with making passes at women in the early 1980’s that they push in the first half of the movie. I don’t think it’s out of place, but it seems like it’s being pushed for a politically correct reason.
The last half of the movie could be a totally different experience, but based on the first half, we’re going to keep watching it. It’s not the best movie, but it’s not totally awful.
I was dubious about seeing it in the first place. After “Avengers: The Horror” in 2019, I had had my fill of super-duper-snooper-hero movies. However, HBO Max, which is part of my cable subscription, was showing it as part of the service. So, it wasn’t costing us anything additional to see it.
It started slow, then got semi-interesting in the middle, before going completely off the rails in the last hour or so. The main bad guy was a total nut case, a con man running a Ponzi scheme who found the “golden key” as it were. Kristen Wiig’s character was equally annoying. Then again, I’ve never seen her in a movie where I liked her, so my expectations were low going in. And she lived down to my expectations!
I wanted to like the film but it was Superman 4 levels of bad.
The first hour of director, co-writer Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 is actually pretty good. Then it jumps off a cliff with an ACME screenplay that won’t open and goes kersplat.
Man alive, what a disaster.
DC needs to stop trying to be like Marvel and just focus on their own universe.
Case in point: Joker. Totally unexpected, unprecedented take on one of their most popular villains. I would love to see the same done with Lex Luther.
That’s when the girl says, “Um, my eyes are up here.”
Better than the first one which was boring, though 2.5 hours is excessive
