On Wednesday Edison International threatened to cut off power to homes in Southern California as a preventative measure against dry conditions and high winds.
Edison said they would cut off power to Southern California homes and businesses on Thanksgiving to ‘prevent fires.’
The utility company followed through and cut off power to more than 8,000 homes in LA, Orange, Kern, Ventura and San Bernardino counties on Thanksgiving evening.
100,000 more homes are at risk for shutoffs depending on weather conditions as meteorologists warn of strong Santa Ana winds.

More than 8,000 Southern California Edison customers were without power on Thanksgiving evening, with 100,000 more at risk of having the lights turned out as high winds led to elevated wildfire risk, officials said.
Homes in Los Angeles, Orange, Kern and San Bernardino counties were affected by outages as part of the utility company’s public safety power shutoff program, which is intended to reduce the risk that electrical systems become an ignition point for wildfires.
As of 9:30 p.m., 3,015 customers were without power in Ventura County, while 2,679 customers lost service in Orange County, according to an outage map managed by the utility company. Roughly 1,200 residences in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties were also affected by the shutdowns by late Thursday night, the company said.

I have a very strong feeling that the Left is going to use the power grid (and taking it down) as a weapon in the near future.
Several government agencies (including the DoD) conducted exercises last week to test how they can operate if the power goes out. Some called it the "The Energy Resilience Readiness Exercise (ERRE)."

The power grid (and taking it down) can be used as a weapon - by both the "good" guys, and the "bad" guys as well.
Power outages can:
Prevent ATM and bank runs, stop the spread of news on your phone/computer/iPad/, prevent/limit the President from using the Emergency Presidential Alert System to address the nation and people from hearing it, take down security cameras, and a lot of other things.
What if the President decided to get the message out with hard evidence of vote fraud and treason with foreign nations by the Democrats, and the power grid goes down at the same time by coincidence?
Or what if the good guys have to shut down the grid to prevent the Left from doing something akin to domestic terrorism?
As they say in the Star Wars movies: "I've got a really bad feeling about this."
If you can, I would recommend getting yourself armed up with alternate sources of power.
Solar, gasoline, or natural gas generators make sense in normal times, in order to be prepared and to keep your family comfortable and safe.
There are anything but normal times.
I hope California loses all power and water in the near future, and the left can reap what it has sowed.

I agree... just purchased a 48 KW Generac industrial propane generator for my house.
Hooking it to natural gas with 2 x 1,000 gallon propane tank backup.

By the way, part of the "Green New Deal" and the "Great Re-set" agenda blatantly call for rationing of power and the deliberate destruction of fossil fuel power generation.
I have a gas generator with a power transfer switch, but I also have a solar portable power system.
Solar is a fantastic technology. It has been used in spacecraft for decades, and it really works well if you have the proper equipment.
I am not talking about the solar panels that the power company puts on your roof, and gives you a bit off on your monthly bill. Those do nothing for you if the grid goes down. Some people actually think they have solar backup power because of those panels, but they have no inverter, solar controller, or deep cycle batteries.
Off the grid, portable solar systems such as Jackery or Bluetti are amazing.
What a condcending gutter snip response, the state does not allow for power line right of way maintaince. Wind gust were up to 65 mph yesterday, enough to make even my lights to flicker.
FWIW - DOD ran similar mock exercises in the late 80’s and early 90’s so the exercise does not alarm me. Hospitals do this also.
A “private” electrical utility is doing this because of liability risks for operating in a whacked out state with whacked out politicians who cannot admit their own culpability for the wildland fire disasters that beset California.
While I do not see this particular instance as a cause for alarm or sign of the apocalypse, your point is valid and many in the green movement have strongly suggested using “brown-outs” to meet carbon goals since “we the people” are too stupid to share their vision of rainbows and unicorns.
Given what we have seen with some of our Governor’s this year it is not too far fetched to think that deep blue would try to punish deep red somehow, but I would not suggest Edison is part of some deep conspiracy (yet).
