That was my concern at the time as well, and I HATE cigarette smoke. I was in a “bar band” before this second hand smoke nonsense started. I loved playing smoke free bars. My clothing and equipment didn’t end up smelling. But I was opposed to the bans because this is supposed to be a free country. If I feel strongly enough, I can simply choose to refuse to play in smoky bars. It insults me that the state makes that decision for me.
Also, all testing proved was that second hand smoke is harmful to Cats, not any other animal. It’s all about PPM.
Exactly - and if a bar or restaurant owner wants to cater exclusively to non-smokers (or conversely to smokers) that should be their decision, not the state's. Freedom is not a difficult a concept to grasp which can only lead to one of two conclusions about those who would infringe upon it:
1. Ignorance
2. Malignance
There really are no other options (other than a combination of the two), and people in either category should not be in positions of authority.
