Senator Josh @HawleyMO writes letter in support of Trump’s move to end Afghanistan War. @senatemajldr McConnell had joined with Democrats to fight Trump and keep war going indefinitely. McConnell said leaving after 20 years was “premature.” https://t.co/AJ9bzgekh4— Mollie (@MZHemingway) November 17, 2020

Service members who signed up at the start of the conflict will be eligible to retire on half pay next year.
We’ve been there that long. And Afghanistan is still a cesspit and will likely never get better.
Bring ‘em all home. There is nothing in Afghanistan worth another drop of American blood or another dollar of American treasure.
Do we keep the Opium Fields for ourself like we have been or do we surrender the Opium fields to the Afghans??
True. What these politicians can't seem to grasp is our military greatest asset is it's mobility. If they become a threat again, we can strike them again. We don't need to occupy the nation.
The politicians will keep us there another 20 years.
Trump was told by his most reliable Senators that McConnell would be his biggest problem in the Senate.
Trump finally going to shut down the CIA opium supply lines
A soldier deployed at the start of the Afghanistan war could have a grandchild getting deployed this year
Thinking about McConnell, I wonder how many Republicans in Congre$$ Were actually never Trupmers but played along with him until they could join with the Democrats to defeat him.
I have some familiarity with Afghan history. Easy to conquer, leaving becomes difficult. Ask the Brits after the first Anglo-Afghan War.
No matter how long we stay there, the Afghans will remain being Afghans; we will not change them or their interesting ways. Their national sport, buskashi is a kind of polo, except played with the carcass of a goat, often weighted with sand. This is who we are dealing with.
As long as we stay, Americans will get killed, you can count on that. How much good our staying will accomplish might well be debatable. But as long as we stay, our people will be killed.
My stomach heaved at that thought...
Burn the fields then salt the ground.
You do realize that’s CIA property you are talking about, and a Hundreds of Millions of Taxpayer Dollars have been used for a long long time to secure that untraceable income for our CIA Special OPS and grease the Politicians everywhere we operate
Get. Out.
Period.
Don’t give a rat’s behind what happens there after. None of our business.
Also gtfo of Syria and Iraq. And cut Germany forces in half. Stupid, stupid, “Team America, World Police!” folks just can’t seem to focus on America. I honestly don’t give a crap about that entire area.
Hawley is one of the handful of worthy Senators we have.
Most of the rest are cowardly, crooked, or compromised. And that is on a good day.
Yep. We’ve spent more than enough on protecting the world’s crooked, socialist plutocrats. Bring the troops home, and prepare for defense against our real foreign adversaries.
Glory be. 17 years is about 12 too long. Another waste of money.
Of course leaving after 20 years is premature. Perhaps a couple of decades more will suffice. There is a lot of money to be made. We can’t leave that $43 million gas station (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/u-s-spent-43-million-afghanistan-gas-station-sigar-report-n454036). It will only cost a few more deaths. What the hell.
