I'm beginning to wonder if I wasted a lot of my life serving in the military protecting the Constitution and the American People with what's going on now. Makes ya wonder and I don't think I'm alone!
You did not waste your time. You served and did your duty ‘then’.. You should be proud.
Take it from this old Seabee.
I can’t get drafted, nevermind enlist. Why were we in Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Mogadishu, Iraq the first time, and probably many others? How many lives were wasted and money thrown out? Why were we there? What was accomplished? What was the mission?
There is no reason for this country to engage in foreign military adventures.
In answer to your question, look at a post to another poster on the question— ‘am I a good man’? “Did I do the right thing”. YOU served your country, and FRiend we ALL thank you— even the ones who are too dim to understand what the GIFT of time, treasure and blood/injury is, in the service of the GREATEST COUNTRY in world history. Unique in all the world- just as YOU are. Grateful thanks to you,FRiend. Fear not- it was NOT in vain. You are vindicated, and you have conquered! Vincador!
I’m beginning to wonder too.
Maybe you should what the definitions of “Treaty” and “Pact” are....
Kinda glad you weren’t drafted or joined...I’d sure hate to have someone like covering my “6”....
Dear tayper,
I am a Vietnam Vet, and a Cold War vet.
Cold War, you know, the one against both the USSR AND its buffer states, and Communist Mainland China.
Fifty-some thousand Americans died fighting the spread of? COMMUNISM!!
Yet, here we are, 2020, and what do we have elected into the sacred halls of Congress??
COMMUNISTS!! SOCIALISTS!! WHY!!!
Once, we had laws about such things.
We have fools wearing vietcong black, acting just like they did (almost), and nobody is shooting them dead in the street, as they deserve. WHY???
I have always thought AMERICA was the answer and the response to such (long-stream-military-born-expletives).
I have always thought AMERICA was better than that, and better than any other spot in the world.
WHA’ HOPPEN?????!!!
We are now being attacked from within, and it’s hard to wage war on Americans who hate America. We were the good guys who kept giving in to all of their insane requests, little by little, inch by inch, until they took a mile and beyond.
Thank you to all of you who have served to protect this country. Now we all have to fight for this country.
I invite you to accompany me to any military hospital to meet our wounded warriors there. Make your statement to those folks.
That would show courage on your part, and to the people who know what real courage is.
Nah...ya done good.
Just told my 19 y.o. son he needs to either join space force or make a baby with a woman and that kid has to join space force since every other branch if the military has been represented by this family tree.
We need to reclaim that honor.
Father inlaw US Army D-Day ver glider infantry
Paternal Grandfather Marine WW2 Tinian and Bougainville.
Maternal Grandfather US Army (air Corp WW2)
MY father, USAF Fighter Interceptor Elextronics/Weapons systems technician.
Me, USN Sonar Tech surface ships.
Multiple cousins US Army.
TBD Space Force.
Nobody who served wasted their time unless they fucked up and got a Big Chicken Dinner before doing anything of consequence.
HOLD THE LINE is enough.....it is up to future generations to grab the rope and start pulling when we step off line.
A MAN does his duty.
Doing your duty is a reward in and of itself.
It makes you honorable.
The officers who held the line at the Seattle Police precinct until the Mayor gave it away did no fail....they did their duty and maintained their honor. The Mayir has no honor
It goes the same for you and me and all the other Vets. Did we do our duty? Of we did so then we maintained our honor as men and then it was 100% worth it.
That is all we can control.
What was the reason they were sent there?
Thank you. Your words were a great honor. Sometimes that is all we need. I miss my fallen friends. I still visit those places where we sat and fished and remember those special moments in time.
First of all, thank-you for your service to this country. Second, your service is not in vain.
25+ years here..
Volunteered for every $hit deployment/job I could find. Why? Because I knew I was very good at my ‘job’ and would make life easier for so many other folks..
Does it matter. I have breakfast sometimes with a veteran of the Chosin Reservoir battle. I am glad some of those courageous men are still alive. My uncle crossed Okinawa and back again. So many forget the darkness that was marching across the world then and still is. Does it matter. May your chains rest lightly if you think it doesn’t.
Yes it matters. After WWII, lives were sacrificed to the military industrial complex. Why were we in Mogadishu? What did we accomplish there? Why were we in Panama?
We should never again set off on military adventures around the world.
I took an oath, I will not waiver and will continue the fight.
That’s an entirely different argument that doesn’t belong here. You dishonor those who have commented here.
I’ll play along though. The Communist Chinese now control the strategic Panama Canal. Thanks to traitors within our own government who thought just like you. American ports owned by the Chinese yet another example, spit. Most favored trading status given to a communist country, spit. Christians being stoned by Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan, spit. Mogadishu, home to thousands of Muslims. You want more?
No you are not alone...
In my own case, volunteered to serve because I wanted to serve, and understood it was my duty as an American male, like my father and his father and brothers before me to serve, and because I knew then as I believe now the USA and Our Constitution and way of life are worth defending...Every bit of dirt below our feet is Sacred Ground bought and paid for with sweat and blood...
How others regard the blessings bestowed upon them by Almighty God to be a citizen of this great Republic, and whatever they may do to dishonor themselves and the USA, is forever upon them...
Nothing to do with all those like you who honorably served, and especially those who gave all in that service...The shame shall be forever their own, but never yours...
So this Veteran’s Day, thank you for serving, and Welcome Home! Now, chin up, shoulders back, chest out and stand tall, My Brother...You’ve earned the respect and the undying gratitude of the majority of your fellow citizens...
