I bet this poor girl was abused by others before this incident. She looks very old in the face for someone her age.
I thought there was something quite distinctive about her face also, but couldn't quite express it. You described it perfectly. "Old in the face" is exactly what she is. Also the way she tried to duck Joe's pawing looked like she'd been through it all before and knew the routine.
I just noticed that. At first glance, I thought she was in her late teens or early 20s. I didn't know she was that young.
