Plan B: Recess the Senate
Vanity ^ | 9/18/20 | FlipWilson

It would be nice to get a permanent replacement for Ginsburg. But I am doubtful that the weak GOP Senators will allow such a thing,

It is crucial to ensuring a fair election that Roberts does not hold the swing vote. He is owned and will allow many number of election scams to proceed.

Plan B mist be to recess the Senate and allow for a recess appointment. At the very least, it would neuter John Roberts and allow for this blatant election fraud to be shut down.

No he doesn’t. Best qualified to defend the Constitution is question 1.

With a new 5-4 Conservative majority (Roberts being among the 4 on the Liberal side), will Roberts still be blackmailed?

Since he will no longer be the "swing vote", will he be free to join the Conservatives and form a 6-3 majorint?

The hearings have to be short. The dems were disgusting during the Cavanaugh hearings- Mitch just needs to remind them of that.

While the President can indeed fill a vacant position on the Supreme Court with a recess nominee. It’s only good until the end of the next Senate session. Which is always less than 2 years.

It would be better to get the senate to confirm a conservative than to make a temporary appointment that will expire within 2 years.

It would be nice to have a conservative in place to answer any upcoming election questions. They have 46 days until the election.

BTW, will Sen. Harris be out campaigning, or will she be sitting on the Judiciary Committee, attacking the nominee?

If they aren’t going to vote on Trump’s nominee, they won’t give him a recess.

we really then need to primary Murkowski (who has been an idiot on so many occasions) and Grassley if they won’t do their damned jobs that they are paid to do and confirm a nominee

Just to fill in the blanks in your post so anyone who might be historically-challenged won't misunderstand:

President John Adams was defeated by Thomas Jefferson in the 1800 presidential election. He then nominated John Marshall to the the Chief Justice of SCOTUS, who was confirmed prior to Jefferson's swearing in by the last Federalist controlled US Senate.

No need for complications. Just get it done with. Yes a few cities will burn down but will happen only once.

Actually I guess they could recess the Senate for one day.
Trump could appoint a recess nominee to the bench and immediately nominate them for a permanent position.
Senate comes back and takes up the hearing.

But they need to confirm this year, because you don’t want to seat a new senate.

She lost the last primary and won as a write-in. Had full support of GOP too.

all i am saying is he’s not going to sit this one out by adjourning the senate and having Trump do a recess appointment

no need to

and its a big deal, there’s no reason why would he not let the senate do its job

Senator McConnell is on board...and he’s been pretty good at getting good judicial nominations approved..

Agreed, but we have to make sure we get the appointment made to have the votes to prevent the election theft. Mitch has said it is coming to the Senate floor, I have heard Grassley is balking at voting, so Mitch needs to bring him in line so Pence can be the tie breaking vote.
