Operational security would have been impossible. An hour there, an hour on site would have given plenty of time to place an ied on road to block passage or blow up the limo as it returned to Paris.
My understanding is that the drive alone was more than 90 minutes because of the route they would’ve had to take. Operational security for the President of the United States would’ve been compromised easily. It became a no-go situation.
