Steve Nash was named the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday morning. The announcement was unexpected, to say the least.
Nash, 46, has no head coaching experience. This prompted many to wonder if Brooklyns decision to immediately put him at the helm of a championship contender featuring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving was race-related.
ESPN NBA insider Stephen A. Smith literally made that case during Thursdays episode of First Take.
This is one of the toughest positions Ive ever had to take, Smith said on the air.
Ladies and gentlemen, theres no way around this. This is white privilege. This does not happen for a Black man.

Steve Nash was strategist for what was the best team in NBA history, despite having no Michael Jordan, no Wilt Chamberlain, no Bill Russell, no Magic Johnson... I mean Stephen Curry was GOOD, but if he was flying an Airplane!, most of the audience wouldn’t know who he was on sight.
"Roger, Roger!"
And so nash, a Canadian, joins the popovich/kerr anti-American brigade, and will talk endlessly about racism, while steadfastly blocking an qualified black from becoming a head coach. China revs up its money machine with nash in the crosshairs.
Who decides what color of skin any person that takes this flesh journey will wear? Life begins at conception when the soul is placed in the womb! I am sick of these with fame and fortune itch about privilege.. as if they were passed over..
And yes, the 2016-16 team lost the finals, but the 16-17 team went 16-1 in the playoffs.
You probably should have read the article before you opened your pie hole...
I do not need to be lectured about privilege by anyone. You included.
Many? Oh, brother...
I’ve been a fan of Chuck’s ever since he said that kids should emulate their parents, not athletes or celebrities. “I am not a role model.”
ESPN NBA insider Stephen A. Smith is a racist tool.
I guess Jason Kidd got his “white privilege” from his white mother:
On June 12, 2013, Jason Kidd was named head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, replacing interim coach P. J. Carlesimo. He is the third person since the ABANBA merger to debut as an NBA head coach the season after he retired as a player
PJ was half of the moment that I think the NBA went into the toilet. The infamous Alan Iverson put some mustard on it choking event. Notice a heavy Jailblazer tint to my b-ball knowledge?
Magic Johnson had zero coaching experience and look how that turned out
From the NY Post because the except does have the Barkley quote:
Barkley, it appeared, directly called Smith out, and he did not hold back.
I was very disappointed in some of the guys on television today talking about white privilege. Very disappointed, Barkley said on TNTs Inside the NBA on Thursday. Theyre like, Well, this doesnt happen to Black guys. And Im like, It happened to Doc Rivers. It happened to Jason Kidd. It happened to Derek Fisher.
Nine of the 16 coaches hired without any previous experience since 1978-79 are Black.
When you have a responsibility, especially when you have to talk about something as serious as race, you cant be full of crap, Barkley said. Youve got to be honest and fair.

Good for Sir Charles.
"It's just turrible!"
The game was invented by a Canadian albeit in Springfield Mass. That’s the reason the hall of fame is there.
Mark Levin pretends to be friends with him.
Stoned (and/or drunk) out of their gourds. Good times.
There’s a bunch of pics of Dirk plastered.
Thanks for posting Charles’ comments. I saw a couple of clips of that on FNC and was obviously disagreeing with ESPN’s resident racist, S. Smith.
