The congregational singing taking place at the close of the RNC 2020 convention flies in the face of all the warnings and restrictions on public worship, especially in with ban on public singing because of the risk of spread by breath droplets. I think this genius.
Cohens whiners can bugger off. Cohen wrote something like 80 verses to his version, so just about any story can be told with the song. And if the Cohen fans want to take it further and slam Macchio for singing it, they’re gonna tick off a whole lot of M-fans around the world.

I kept watching... didn't want it to end. Great joy President Trump.
He was tenor Christopher Macchio. Look him up.
I was unaware that there are that many verses. Usually only about three or four are performed. However, I'm still partial to Vincent Youmans' Hallelujah!, which would make a great campaign song.
I had never heard of Macchio until last night, but now, I, too, am an M-fan. The aria "Nessun Dorma" (no one sleeps) was a perfect choice.
This was genius. The songs were designed to get everyone back to their roots. They reminded those of us old enough to remember when those songs were acceptable to sing in school, and when we felt safe playing in the back yard. It reminded us of what it was like before the world went to crap.
“The songs were designed to get everyone back to their roots”
You mean — back when America was “great” — and we want it to be great AGAIN? Absolutely!
I’m a Cohen fan and I was thrilled.
America has always been great, but I am talking about when there were positive Godly values. It reminded me of the difference in society between now and when I was a child. I am sad about some of the changes that I see where respect for others is totally absent.

I understand. I’m in my 70s and I think you’re talking about the years when I was growing up and before. Prayer in schools. We sang hymns in school music class. “Blue Laws” when everything was closed on Sunday because Americans were in church. (Soccer games on Sunday? I don’t THINK so!)
Doors weren’t locked in houses, and keys were left in ignitions because you could trust people. Not not only to you keep the door locked, you don’t even answer the door! God has been practically eliminated.
