The owners put a lot into that bubble and many players in the NBA aren’t making big bucks. The owners probably would clean up on the next CBA. The players should always be looking to maximize their own earning power. Dying on a hill over this Jacob Blake guy seems foolish.

I would suggest maybe half the players wanted a legit end to the season and signed on to complete that. The fact that cash was involved...probably figures into their motives as well. The other half are strictly BLM thrill-seekers.

Both groups have now discovered that about half of the normal viewers have lost interest, and the TV contracts of the future may reflect this problem. So exiting this season now makes sense.

As for the next season? That should be the real question. I don’t see it occurring until fall of 2021, and by that point...several teams will be near dissolving.

Since the money is still important to them, I wonder how far their US-based revenue must fall before they move the entire league to China, where they still have tons of fans?

At first, they'll be given lots of freedoms that the rest of China can only dream about. But down the road, who knows...
