A Goodyear tire customer service vanity
me again ^ | 8-24-20 | me

Posted on 08/24/2020 6:14:40 AM PDT by dynachrome

What I sent to to the customer service chat line and someone named Daniel regurgitated the non apology of the CEO and then disconnected.

CEO apology that should have been: "You know what - I had no idea this crap was being taught at our company and I have fired the contractors and those that hired the contractors. We make tires - Our employees can support whoever they want and wear whatever slogans they want, as long as they keep making tires.

If you are a good year customer we thank you, if not gives us a try - our tires are black, but they work well on any colored car!"

Driving on a donut is OK as long as it is NOT glazed.

Many of us in the timber industry up there have gone to “meetings” for the paper industry. It was always the gloom and doom from them. They cant sell paper for the prices they were getting, etc.

So I personally got up and ask at what per cent were they running their mills-are they at peak capacity? NO, they were at 80%-or whatever it was, because they were trying to “CUT” costs.

So I said that common sense would dictate that to cover the costs of a lower market price and to compete with the foreign trade coming into this country, it might be prudent to INCREASE the capacity to 110% and sell at a lower price.
I also told them they might need to investigate changing to tissue with some of those mills.

Increase in productivity=higher profits at a lower price in the good.

Guess what? Did not happen, and now Verso has sold off/closed down nearly all of its publishing paper mills.

I bet these C-sucker would have liked to have listened to us now since tissue paper is a very lucrative commodity these days. Publishing paper is DEAD. Its all going to digital. They CAN NOT see the forest for the trees.

“I have started to go to local small restaurants and order to go.”

There are several sitdown restaurants around us that are staples. We’d do sitdown and takeout prior to the WuFlu. They were completely closed down initially but eventually opened up for full service with tables spaced out six foot. We haven’t done sitdown since all of this started, but still do takeout. I’ve noticed their prices are up a little but I’m ok with that. The one thing I won’t accept is if they go political. As long as they don’t bring it up...I’ll continue to buy from them. You’re right...plenty of restaurants out there that need the business.

Yes, one would think it would be nicer to do business with small places that live and stay within the community no?

I dont mind paying a buck or two more for take out.

Why, because I don’t trust corporate offices?

I was a member of the crew whose job it was to cut staff. I know how cold the world is there. I’ve gotten the almost six figure bonus, when the front line people got a pizza party. I was the merger guy who got paid a lot to “incorporate” acquired staff into existing operations. That meant cutting heads.

I am a fan of good companies. And companies used to be good—they treated their staffs well. Not so much any more.

Local, small businesses are like family. The bigger the company, the less like family. The bigger the debt, the more draconian they are.

So please, tell me how I am contradicting myself.

Well yes. But had a flat and had to get to tire store. Tire was pretty bald.

‘401k’s are the worst invention’

401k’s provide the employee with more independence and security from those cold companies.

DUNLOP Tires is also owned by Goodyear. I had to buy 4 tires for my Honda CRV. I did not consider Goodyear or Dunlop. This is a very low milage car and replacement was due to the age of the tires not tread wear. I bought Hankook. I let Goodyear know that they lost a sale. Did not hear back from them even with a bot reply saying they got it.

My wife’s co-worker had her daughter call her from a Pep Boys a couple of years back and she was in tears. Her car was making a horrible noise squealing when she applied the brakes. Pep boys had decided it was going to need new brakes, new rotors, axles and a bunch of other items, around $800.

My wife called me while her co-worker was on the phone with the daughter and they were in a panic, neither had that kind of money to spend and my wife had the co-workers daughter describe what the car was doing to me and I said, you need new brakes and possibly rotors but that other is crap and a ripoff. Drive it home and go to this local mechanic, sure enough new front brakes was all she needed, around $110 in this area.

You have no idea of the power that is directed to the custodial companies.

But “you” feel in control. Good for you.

Yeah, the guy running the program for all these local Goodyear people who retired mislead all of them. There was a law suit filed about it, but I didn’t dig into my brother’s business about it, he was embarrassed enough over it, how could he have allowed himself to be bilked by the guy and Goodyear. He was a college grad in business, worked for a finance company for a few years when a Goodyear exec approached him to come to the plant to work for them. He started of all things on the loading dock!! They wanted him to learn all the various jobs before they have him his shift. After a couple of years, they turned him loose to be a boss. By then he knew all the jobs from the janitor to the tire makers to running the shift. Then he made the Top 10 Club and stayed there for decades. Made great money. Ended up nearly broke because the 401k guy mislead all those people and Goodyear screwed them. They closed this plant once before years ago, but soon reopened it. He was one of the last people out the gate as he was in the group that shut the place down. THEN when they decided to reopen it, he was asked to interview people to bring the plant back up. What a bunch. Lay him off, screw him, then tell him he has to come back and reopen the plant!! What a mob.
