IMHO, it was one of the songs that made it clear Genesis was going to do just fine without Peter Gabriel. Actually the first tune on "A Trick of the Tail", "Dance on a Volcano", told you they'd be just fine.
And Gabriel was fine without them, as his first album showed (w/ Solsbury Hill)
Yep - I've actually referenced Genesis in a job interview once. "Why do you want to leave your current job?" I painted a picture of the fine line between stability and stagnation, growing in my profession and affording others the opportunity to grow in theirs. I used Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel as an example.
I got the job :-)
