You can’t, then Tim Tebow might play.

See also the thread with the CNN story about an “outbreak” of COVID among Florida kids — just before schools are scheduled to open!

The Left HAS to keep “the fear” going until the election. Anything like school or baseball that makes people feel “normal” must be stopped.

The “test” is purposefully looking for something other than COVID-19 and declaring them “positive”.

Do these players still get paid if they don’t play?

False positives due to random error or systemic problems like reporting common cold-2020 as COVID-19 so you’ll come up positive again if you repeat the test.

Yawn.

14 are positive. How many are dealing with symptoms? And how many are dealing with severe symptoms?

Hardly the first team to have a cold or flu go through their locker room.

Unless you are seeing high morbidity to go long with being positive... this is not really noteworthy in my mind.

I didn’t even notice they started the season.

Actually we did, and we were and are not watching:

Aubrey Huff, President Trump and Mike Dikta explain, why they and I will not be watching any pro sports this season.

Aubrey Huff reacts to San Francisco Giants players kneeling during anthem: ‘I’m Pro America’!

‘I’m proud to not be invited to the San Francisco Giants 10 year World Series reunion’

Huff also responded to a tweet sent out by the Giants.

“#All Lives Matter,” Huff wrote.

TRUMP READY FOR LIVE SPORTS BUT SAYS HE WON’T TUNE IN IF PLAYERS KNEEL DURING NATIONAL ANTHEM: ‘GAME IS OVER FOR ME’!

https://i.postimg.cc/MpT9wfhR/MLB-mound.jpg

Mike Ditka said he wouldn’t change how he felt about this issue:,

“You don’t protest against the flag and you don’t protest against this country who’s given you the opportunities to make a living playing a sport that you never thought would happen,” Ditka told TMZ. “So, I don’t want to hear all the crap.”

PS: Kneeling is a particularly inappropriate and stupid way to protest the death of George Floyd.

This is a handy, gutless way to deal with the kneelers.

I've been watching the games on MLB.tv and they're not showing any pre-game activities. They cut to the broadcast as the pitcher is taking the mound so you can't see who's kneeling and who's not. Yes, the National Anthem is being played (at least at Wrigley Field). It's covered by the radio broadcast guys.

“And the Powers that Be on the Left just HAVE to keep “the fear” going until the election.”

I understand your feeling this way. But the Chinese Wuhan virus is bigger than the U.S. and bigger than the election. It is infecting and killing people all over the world. No country to my knowledge has been immune to its ravages. It hit Europe at least a month before we saw it here and Europe/Britain shut down much more than most places in the U.S.

Now as to the riots and ‘mostly peaceful’ protests...

Yes, the PCR test triggers based on the presence of viral proteins specific to SARS-CoV-2. Unfortunately, it’s been found that in recovered COVID-19 patients, SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins (basically, pieces of the virus not connected to an active/ongoing infection) can remain in a person’s system for sometimes weeks, even months after recovery.

This was the source of the South Korean “multiple infections” cases, which initially sparked fears that you might not get any immunity after having had COVID-19. Those cases turned out to be recurring positive tests (not technically a false positive since the test does correctly trigger under the conditions intended) due to the lingering presence of viral proteins.

You could somewhat resolve this issue by performing both PCR (viral proteins) testing and serology (antibody) testing at the same time. A positive PCR/negative serology would very likely indicate active SARS-CoV-2 infection. Positive on both would indicate either an active infection that’s nearly over or a previous infection with lingering viral proteins. And a negative PCR/positive serology would indicate a previous COVID-19 infection that’s been resolved.

The test looks for the presence of genetic material that’s specific to SARS-CoV-2; the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease. Unfortunately, COVID-19 sometimes leaves a lot of SARS-CoV-2 material in a person’s system after the disease resolves. How else would you suggest we test for it? What diagnostic testing would you design that gives a response specific to SARS-CoV-2 (and no other, similar viruses) without falling victim to the fact that there’s tons of pieces of inactive SARS-CoV-2 floating around a person’s system after infection resolves?

The "ravages" of the hysterical Leftist media are much, much worse. Sure, there's a virus. It's how the virus is being used for propaganda purposes here in the US that is deeply concerning.

That’s incorrect. The PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 triggers off genes that only exist in SARS-CoV-2. If the PCR test comes up positive, you have SARS-CoV-2 genetic material in your body. Now, that genetic material may not be from viral bodies that are still active (i.e. a resolved infection), but they’re definitely SARS-CoV-2. We don’t yet have a better test for active infection and I don’t know how you would begin to design a test that provided a fast response and doesn’t cost a fortune that will delve deeper than looking for the presence of the genetic material of the virus you’re testing for.

I mean, you could take a bunch of samples from a person and culture them, then image the cultures and do genetic testing on the stuff that’s in there. That would tell you if they have active SARS-CoV-2 viruses. It would only take a few weeks and cost about $20,000 per test.
