‘We’re thinking landslide’: Beyond D.C., GOP officials see Trump on glide path to reelection
Politico ^ | June 15, 2020 | David Siders

By most conventional indicators, Donald Trump is in danger of becoming a one-term president. The economy is a wreck, the coronavirus persists, and his poll numbers have deteriorated.

But throughout the Republican Party’s vast organization in the states, the operational approach to Trump’s re-election campaign is hardening around a fundamentally different view.

Interviews with more than 50 state, district and county Republican Party chairs depict a version of the electoral landscape that is no worse for Trump than six months ago — and possibly even slightly better. According to this view, the coronavirus is on its way out and the economy is coming back. Polls are unreliable, Joe Biden is too frail to last, and the media still doesn’t get it.

“The more bad things happen in the country, it just solidifies support for Trump,” said Phillip Stephens, GOP chairman in Robeson County, N.C., one of several rural counties in that swing state that shifted from supporting Barack Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016. “We’re calling him ‘Teflon Trump.’ Nothing’s going to stick, because if anything, it’s getting more exciting than it was in 2016.”

This year, Stephens said, “We’re thinking landslide.”

Five months before the election, many state and county Republican Party chairs predict a close election. Yet from the Eastern seaboard to the West Coast and the battlegrounds in between, there is an overriding belief that, just as Trump defied political gravity four years ago, there’s no reason he won’t do it again.

Andrew Hitt, the state party chairman in Wisconsin, said that during the height of public attention on the coronavirus, in late March and early April, internal polling suggested “some sagging off where we wanted to be.”

But now, he said, “Things are coming right back where we want them … That focus on the...

"conventional" is code for the left wingnut talking points. Keep 'em coming and we will enjoy a bigger win than we had in 2016. Trump is not in danger, the Democrat Party is in deep doo doo and it gets worse every day.

California is now a battleground state.
NY is now a battleground state.
Minnesota is now red.

i will not become complacent, but if we lose, the country is lost.

JFK and Truman (Nixon and LBJ were Senators before becoming VPs, later POTUS). There were a dozen others prior to Truman.

This is making everyone complacent. There is data in the form of poll numbers that Trump is in trouble. I think people are arguing that people are rational. If they were, there wouldn’t be this SJW nonsense in the first place.

I really wouldn’t take it for granted that Trump is going to win. There are even so-called conservatives who hate him. Don’t underestimate the amount of crazy that the West has become.

I realize Biden is worse than Romney as a candidate but let’s not get cocky and complacent.

Is Obama the only senator who won the Presidency?
No senator has ever defeated a sitting president’s reelection bid, and only once (1920) has a senator defeated a governor for an open seat.

Neither senator nor VP is an executive position, and since the 12th Amendment only two sitting presidents - Andrew Jackson and Ronald Reagan - have seen their sitting VP win election to POTUS.

It’s surprisingly common for both parties to nominate senators and/or VPs, even tho that’s basically the only way a senator wins.

How many dead and ineligible people will be enrolled to vote?
How many ballot by mail votes will be stolen?
How many ballots will be harvested from those who couldn’t care less?
How many ballot boxes will be stuffed in rotten precincts?

If we thought recent presidential elections were rife with fraud we ain’t seen nothin yet.

The RINO/GOPe would like nothing better than to sandbag Trump, as they once again try to stuff the RNC convention with unfaithful representatives.

We don’t want to give PDJT another “unproductive” term.

Send “Orange Man Bad” federal and state government Democrats and RINOs home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a “third term” in office imo.

Politico = Fake News on steroids.

Any supporter of the President who's complacent at this time is delusional. In recent weeks I've been getting a dozen texts a day from the Trump campaign seeking donations. At first I ignored them but in the last 10 days or so I've given more money to a politician/Party than I gave in the previous 37,000,000 minutes of my life.

The President is *NOT* a "shoe in" in November.True patriots...rational,decent,respectable Americans...must be willing to crawl over broken glass to get to the polls on November 3rd.

I know I am.

As the Instapundit would say, don’t get cocky, kid. Everyone needs to go out and vote and try to make it so no democrat is elected in to office in November.

Of course, this will not happen but we must show these leftists that are controlling us through threat of force that we will not sit back and take it.

Thanks for voting against the democrats, folks.
