My impression, too. Stop the blood flow and the brain dies.
But he did pass out and just because he didn’t pass out immediately when the knee was put on his neck doesn’t mean the officer didn’t accidentally or intentionally increase the pressure in the 30 seconds before he became “non-responsive”.
What we do know is that the officer kept his knee on the man’s neck for another 2 minutes and 58 seconds after that.
“Occlusion of or injury to one carotid artery may cause neurological deficits on the contralateral side. These include changes in vision, ptosis, facial droop, and unilateral weakness. If strangulation results in hypoxia, patients may have mental status changes and incontinence.”

Mental status changes and incontinence... calling for his mother and lost bladder control.

Freeper’s are using “no traumatic asphyxiation” to defend the cop, but that term refers to a crushing chest injury, so it’s meaningless in the context of the other knee being on the side of the man’s neck.
A subtle and lengthy strangulation by constriction of one artery from the knee to the neck would not necessarily leave physical evidence like bruising or petechiae so the lack of evidence is not proof it didn’t happen.
And the video is evidence that it did.
That's what every person who ever walked the face of this earth and died a sudden death died from.
I’m not surprised at all.
The autopsy and tox report will go a long way to answering that question.
The guy was out of his mind on something, and based on the video, I’d suspect he was shermed out, and probably had some alcohol on board as well. And weed.
Watching the video, I can’t see any animus on the part of the officers, just dealing with a very large, and very intoxicated suspect. Once he decided he didn’t want to go in the car, and went to the ground, the decision was made to just keep him immobilized until fire could get there for medical attention.
That’s the obvious question that isn’t in the record at this time: when did they call for fire? He was on the ground for less than 10 minutes, so someone on the PD must have called, at latest, as soon as he went down.
I wouldn’t have chosen to use the neck restraint, but that’s easy to say sitting in my den sipping a cold iced tea. Is an investigation warrented? Of course. Is the video dispositive evidence of incompetence or malice? No way.
“this does not remove the inhumanity that the cop displayed..”
This is why I think the 3rd degree murder charge was the right one, and

..and a conviction is likely.
Someone else posted the indictment which, in the definition of Murder 3,contained the word / phrase “depraved disregard for life” or something along those lines.
You are assuming that the Hennepin County ME is not a union owned incompetent hack and that his autopsy findings won’t be challenged.

I wonder what Jack McCoy would say about this case.

________
... who is Lloyd?
Hmmm....
So sitting on one knee, all your weight on that and transferred to the neck of the victim didnt exacerbate his underlying conditions resulting in his death?
I mean really. Sitting on a guys neck for 6 minutes and nothing was going to happen?
BTW, ...his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death, it concluded.
So, what did he die of exactly? Besides a lack of oxygen to his brain?

Wuhan Flu.
Almost 9 minutes of direct pressure on the carotid artery, starving the brain of Oxygen, in an already totally subdued guy, and the pressure extending almost 3 minutes after he became unresponsive, would seem to have possibly caused severe brain damage....nothing he did merited a death sentence (else a number right here would be in fear of their lives) and your ignorance abounds....
Yeah, PCP will do that too.
The black vote is not important to the dems:
its EVERYTHING TO THE RATS!!
Without the black vote they lose we win and they know it! They will do anything to keep from losing. If they lose the deep state slowly goes away the cabal comes crashing down and their entire house of cards that has been ruling us for decades blows up.
If you think it was coincidence that a 19 year police vetran held his knee on a black man who was a fav with the blacks, hispanics and others who ran the washing machine think again.
