The CDC is now saying COVID-19's fatality rate is a fraction of the number Fauci used to panic us into lockdown. Moreover, we now know for sure that he never believed any of the garbage he peddled to us.
The Democrat strategy is to call for investigations into Trump’s response (or lack thereof).
They put Fauci et al (even China) on offense rather than defense.

Interesting article which reminds me of CDC response to AIDS in the 80s. After a friend taught a class in report writing to the CDC in Atlanta he told me that all the reporting on AIDS was grossly exaggerated base upon his conversations with his students. All his students were doing AIDS research and they told him that if you couldn’t relate your work to AIDS then you would be unemployed.
Shortly thereafter I read an interview with the head of the CDC. He spent most of the interview explaining the direness of the AIDS threat and how it was inevitable that it would breakout into the heterosexual population. After several rounds of his dodging question after question, he finally admitted the chances of a breakout were small. He claimed they only had the best interests of the population at heart but it was clear that they only wanted to ensure their future federal funding.
Fifty years later, same story?

The current Case Fatality Rate for COVID-19 is 98,658 deaths / 1,666,015 known cases = 5.9%.. That's 59 times the flu CFR of 0.1%
The Infection fatality rate of either is anybody's guess.
The article claims Fauci knew the numbers he was quoting in March when he said COVID was 10 times more deadly that Flu. But they present nothing in the article to back up that claim. They drag out a Fauci quote from February when Fauci thought it would about like the flu. As though Fauci is not allowed to upgrade his earlier too optimistic assessment.
They misuse numbers from the CDC and act like Fauci is somehow responsible for the CDC numbers they misused.
They acknowledge the difference between CFR and IFR and then go on to use them alternately in a confusing jumble.

This is a very dishonest blog. The author is quoting a CDC planning scenario, not CDC analysis.
The high death rates are actually still high.
Nowhere in the scenario does it say that the case fatality rate is only 0.4%. The scenario is based on estimates made prior to 4/29/2020; at that time, the real case fatality rate was 5.763%. The case fatality rate today is a little higher, 5.995%.
Before presenting a blog article, do a bit of fact checking. The CDC planning scenario is available to the public. A planning scenario is NOT the boots on the ground situation; it is developed to test certain response strategies to try to determine the best strategies going forward. It is equivalent to what the Army would call “wargaming.”
I wish this kind of Monday morning quarterbacking crap would just stop.
I’m not a statistician, or a scientist. As a layperson, I look at where the rubber hits the road. How many people died, and how does that compare to other times? As far as I can tell from what I hear, we’re getting in the neighborhood of 100,000 deaths in this country, which will likely go to, maybe 150 by year’s end? What I’ve seen of the flu is that a bad-ish year is 80-100,000. The kind of year we have a couple of times a decade. When we don’t do everything imaginable to destroy the economy, and tear apart the fabric of a society and culture. Now, I do respect people’s desire to distance themselves, and I wear a mask in the stores to make others comfortable, but I also try to keep some perspective, and be as active as I can. As for your analysis, why don’t we have 59 times as many deaths from the Covid virus as we usually do from the flu? Just asking as a stupid paperhanger who didn’t major in science.
