MSNBC's Velshi: Trump Deeming Churches 'Essential' Could Violate 'Separation of Church and State'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

This has got to be one of the most dumbfounding [we're tempted to drop the "founding"] statements made by a member of the liberal media regarding the coronavirus.

On his MSNBC show this morning, Ali Velshi suggested that by deeming houses of worship "essential," thus qualifying them to reopen, President Trump could be in violation of the "separation of church and state."

I’m always complaining how we let the left change the vocabulary, change the “meanings” of words, deciding for the rest of us WHICH and WHAT words we can use.

What I complain about is that WE LET THEM DO IT!!

Jungle/rain forest, sex/gender, global cooling/global warming/climate change, you know the list.

This, “Separation of Church and State”, while not new, is back in the news AGAIN! This one is DANGEROUS! to our FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

We need to trample this phrase to death, for once, for all.

THERE IS NO “Separation of Church and State”, PERIOD!

Forget Jefferson! IRRELEVANT! Don’t fall into that trap. It doesn’t matter.

This is an easy argument/battle to win.

“Article [I] (Amendment 1 - Freedom of expression and religion) 13
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Where in the constitution does it declare there be “Separation of Church and State”?

Jefferson said... Wait, is it IN the document or not? But, Jefferson, FORGET JEFFERSON! Show me where in the Constitution of the United States it declares there be “Separation of Church and State”?

You can’t.... BECAUSE IT ISN’T IN THERE!

THERE IS NO SUCH THING!

FIRST AMENDMENT, FIRST sentence... “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof....

“MAKE NO LAW” is the key phrase there.

And later on in the FIRST amendment... “...or the right of the people peaceably to assemble...”

One of the most important places that people “assemble” is CHURCH! Sure it covers other places as well, but religion practicing was high on their list. (Amendment ONE, Sentence ONE).

The Framers would NEVER, say NEVER agreed to such language! Anyone proposing such a thing would likely have been SHOT!

This was and is a “CHRISTIAN” nation. More so then.

“Church services were held in what is now called Statuary Hall from 1807 to 1857. The first services in the Capitol, held when the government moved to Washington in the fall of 1800, were conducted in the “hall” of the House in the north wing of the building.”

Was THAT “Separation of Church and State”?

in violation of the “separation of church and state.”

There's no such thing other than in the minds of activist judges.

So sue him. He is upholding the Constitution. Local health nuts say shut down all “non-essential” business. So Trump just declares they are essential because they insure fundamental rights, the right to worship and assemble. He is not “establishing” a specific religion. He is allowing all.

So why aren’t state decrees closing churches violations of Church and State? The First Amendment guarantees Freedom of Religion because the practice of religion IS essential.

Now, there you go arguing logic. ;-)

Show me where our Constitution says anything about “separation of church and state.”

Muslims want to destroy Christianity and murder all Christians. They will use anything, to include information warfare using the news media, to support muslim’s efforts to destroy Christianity.

They are ipso facto violative of 1st Am. It is that the government caught everyone flat-footed as they scared the crap out of everyone.

It anyone went to court, they won. Ohio’s Governor did not even come close to banning church. He knows better. But the Bishops etc. voluntarily complied. Gutless,
