A day after armed protesters against Michigan’s stay-at-home order entered the statehouse in Lansing, Donald Trump once again expressed support for the rightwing movement.
Michigan’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer, should he said: “make a deal” with the demonstrators.
“The governor of Michigan should give a little, and put out the fire,” the president wrote in a tweet on Friday morning. “These are very good people, but they are angry. They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal.”
She didn’t listen to the President’s advice. Protestors in Michigan planning to rally at the state Capitol on Thursday are being warned that if they bring firearms to the event they will be arrested.
On Monday, Whitmer said she respected people’s rights to protest but was becoming ‘increasingly concerned about the violent nature of the comments being made’ and the ‘extreme rhetoric already connected to Thursday’s rally.’
She has requested that if people decide to protest that they wear masks and practice social distancing.
Whitmer’s comments came after gun-toting militia protesters joined a larger group demanding that she reopen parts of the state’s economy in a demonstration last week. The protesters spilled inside the Capitol, where armed demonstrators confronted police officers and insisted on being allowed onto the House floor as lawmakers debated an extension of her emergency powers.
Allegedly several members of the groups planning on attending the rally called for the assassination of Governor Gretchen Whitmer which saw one man writing: ‘Can we please just take up a collection for an assassin to put that woman from Michigan down.’
Under current state law, it is legal to take firearms inside the Capitol, because Michigan is an open-carry state.

According to Wikipedia, the total 2018 gubernatorial turnout was 4,231,009 votes.
It is completely inexplicable why Whitmer hasn’t reopened the Northern peninsula of Michigan completely.

Two of my adult kids live in Michigan. One of apolitical, single and doesn’t own a gun.
I had my son take one of his firearms and just drop it off at her apartment. He also took her to the range.
She called to thank me and I told her that she needed to keep it just in case the social order breaks down.
I never once imagined that the Governess would be the cause of such breakdown.
It reminds the government where final veto power truly resides, and that they operate with our permission, not the other way around.
It’s inexplicable why north of Bay City isn’t open.
Of course many of these governors are insane power grab freaks.
One county in Maryland has had a whopping SIX CASES and is shut tight. Our governor is a Republican, on paper.
