Have you ever wondered why you never heard a word about "social distancing" when swine flu struck during Obama's first term? More and more people are aware that COVID-19’s threat has been exaggerated. But very few realize that “social distancing” is total b.s. regardless.
Well it doesn't get any better when you look at the whole thing.

If you subscribe to the germ theory of disease, then to pass an infection from one person to another, viruses or bacteria have to get transmitted from one person to another. That happens over time and space. The amount that transmits from one person to the next is diminished in space by about 1/R^2. The amount that transmits in time depends upon suspension rates in air and lifetimes on surfaces.
Second, since we can see that the number of cases was doubling every 3 days, it means that it takes a finite amount of time to transmit the disease from one person to the next. It doesn't transmit across the entire population instantaneously or transmit to remote corners of the country through teleportation.
All of that means that time and distance decrease the probability of transmission.
Therefore creating distance in a virgin population will decrease probabilities and rates of transmission.
Of course the hard date shows that. But the flubros who spout this nonsense don't have data.
And, no, I don't support locking down and destroying the economy. But I do support reasonable and proportionate public health measures.

Actually, commercial airplanes have excellent air filtration/replacement systems. Would trust them much more than a subway, elevator, or taxi. Too many surfaces to touch.

Customary action in a pandemic is to quarantine the sick.
If you have an illness where people appear well but can spread the disease you don’t have much choice except to stay away from everyone initially.

In previous annual flu seasons there always was a “flu shot” people could get, but were not mandated to get, and nobody had any idea as to whether they worked. In my own personal experience the only year I got the shot, I got the flu. I have refused every year since to get the shot relying on my God given immune system to protect me. It did. No shots. No social distancing.
In the past, flu seasons have run their course and some people died. This virus may yet cause a greater number of fatalities but not anywhere near the model derived numbers that were originally publicized. When the effects of the “political solutions” are balanced against the economic and social costs the “political solutions” are abject failures just like every other government inspired program.

I demand a double blind study to see if social distancing really works before I will adhere to it. What is good for hcq is good for their recommendations also.

Agree...why did the CDC tell us in Feb that masks won’t help you avoid the virus. Now any old homemade mask works. 6 foot rule? Like when we had smoking sections on planes. The smoke we were smelling was from the smokers exhaling it from their lungs....40-50 feet away. Covid gets exhaled from the lungs but has no odor...does 6 feet make sense? You breathe out and the virus falls to the ground?
The blue states can no longer pay their unfunded liabilities, gold plated health plans, 6 figure pensions, and full benefits to illegal aliens. They’re broke and this is their last chance for a federal bailout. They’re worse things get, the better the chance...in their twisted world.
China unleashed a weak virus on the world as payback to Trump winning a new trade agreement. Goal is destroy our economy. I think all of the above issues will fall flat on their faces.

Went to Home Despot today. They made me wear a mask, and wait in line 6 feet from everyone else to get into the store, and to use the self checkout. At the self checkout, I grabbed the same scanning gun that everyone else before me had used, without it being sterilized, and used the same touch screen, with the same level of sterilization. What a f%%%ing joke.
