Left-wing activists made multiple false and misleading claims on Thursday following President Donald Trumps White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing in which the president commented on new scientific findings from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The activists falsely claimed that Trump urged Americans to inject themselves with disinfectant and told people to drink bleach.
To understand Trumps remarks, its important to first understand the full context of what was said at the press briefing.
Bill Bryan, Under Secretary for Science and Technology at DHS, said at the press briefing, Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect that solar light appears to have on killing the virus, both surfaces and in the air. Weve seen a similar effect with both temperature and humidity as well, where increasing the temperature and humidity or both is generally less favorable to the virus.
Bryan talked about the half-life of the coronavirus on surfaces like door handles and stainless steel surfaces, saying that when they inject UV rays into the mix along with high temperatures and increased humidity that the virus dies quickly.
The virus does not survive as well in droplets of saliva, and thats important because a lot of testing being done is not necessarily being done, number one, with the COVID-19 virus and number two, in saliva or respiratory fluids, Bryan continued. And thirdly, the virus dies the quickest in the presence of direct sunlight under these conditions.
Bryan continued by noting that DHS also tested if certain types of disinfectant could kill the coronavirus.
Weve tested bleach, weve tested isopropyl alcohol on the virus, specifically in saliva or in respiratory fluids, and I can tell you that bleach will kill the virus in five minutes, Bryan said. Isopropyl alcohol will kill the virus in 30 seconds, and thats with no manipulation, no rubbing. Just bring it on and leaving it go. You rub it and it goes away even faster.
Bryan added, Were also looking at other disinfectants, specifically looking at the COVID-19 virus in saliva.
Immediately following these remarks, Trump said:
So, Im going to ask Bill a question that probably some of you are thinking of if youre totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So, supposing when we hit the body with a tremendous, whether its ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and I think you said that hasnt been checked, but youre going to test it. And then I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said youre going to test that too. Sounds interesting. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so itd be interesting to check that, so that youre going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, well see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. Thats pretty powerful.
A few moments later, ABC News reporter Jon Karl asked Bryan, The president mentioned the idea of a cleaner, bleach and isopropyl alcohol emerging. Theres no scenario where that could be injected into a person, is there?
No, Im here to talk about the finds that we had in the study, Bryan responded. We dont do that within that lab at our labs.
Trump then clarified his remarks: It wouldnt be through injections, youre talking about almost a cleaning and sterilization of an area. Maybe it works, maybe it doesnt work, but it certainly has a big affect if its on a stationary object.
Trump later raised the possibility of whether UV rays could kill the coronavirus if it was on a persons skin, in particular if it were on their hands.
If theyre outside, right, and their hands are exposed to the sun, will that kill it as though it were a piece of metal or something else? Trump asked.
I dont want to say it will at the same rate because its a non-porous surface, but what we do know is that we looked at the worst case scenario and the virus lives longer on non-porous surfaces, Bryan responded. So porous surfaces, it doesnt live quite as long, so in theory what you said is correct.
Left-wing activist Chris D. Jackson wrote that Trump had urged Americans to inject themselves with disinfectant.
Jake Maccoby, a former speech writer for the Obama Justice Department, wrote on Twitter that Trump had told people to drink bleach.
Others have repeated the false claims.
The press should review that commandment about bearing false witness.
They're atheists
It's been that way since the Garden of Eden. The first member of The Fake News Media was a serpent.
The closer we get to November, the worse it’s going to get...
He should turn this on them today. The fake news brought up drinking or injecting some sort of disinfectant. He needs to have another video at his press conference.
I detest the news media. If they said the sky is blue and grass is green, I would go outside to check.
The president causes his own problems. He knows the press will overreact to things he says. So why inject his questions into the meeting with the experts? Let the experts talk and let the press ask THEM their questions. He sounds pretty stupid sometimes with some of the questions he asks. I’d prefer to just hear from the experts.
I watched the whole thing in real-time. I also came away with the impression that it was the REPORTER who first brought up injecting bleach and alcohol into people.
btt
You are pathetic
It was.
Because I prefer to hear medical discussions by medical experts instead of Trump? Whatever, douchebag.
Left-wing activists made multiple false and misleading claims.
It’s all they know what to do they are mine mules for the democrats.
“Let the experts talk and let the press ask THEM their questions.”
Experts like Fauci? I don’t think so.
FBI INVESTIGATION TARGETED DR. FAUCI BUT COMEY PULLED THE PLUG
Top U.S. scientist and research pioneer Dr. Judy Mikovits said she cooperated with the FBI during an investigation of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the National Institute of Health, alleging Fauci was a workplace tyrant who was under investigation for swiping scientific research, covering up tainted vaccines, doling out lucrative federal grants to feckless cronies and much more.

There, fixed it.!
The Press isn't too stupid to understand, they are smart enough to twist the President's words to attack him, knowing that their distortions will mainly go unchallenged.
The more desperate they become, the more outrageous they become.
Vodka and gin contain ethanol.
Tonic water contain 83 parts per million of quinine. (Hydroxychloroquine is a synthetic analog of quinine.)
It seems like the President is telling us to have vodka and tonic cocktails. I'll drink to that!!
Of course he did. Liberals say so.
As Natzi calls it, the WRAP-UP SMEAR. It goes as follows:
1. LIE about your opponent.
2. Send LIE to media, who willingly share with their other cohorts for publication from many sources.
3. Merchandise the lie. Sell it to the TV talking heads and fein outrage over the LIE.
