There’s an original Star Trek episode where the cure Spock with bright light temporarily blinding him. Sounds like the same concept.

There is also an original Star Trek episode where an alien entity that thrives on hostility and negativity takes over the Enterprise where a bunch of Klingons are on board. Kang,
played by Michael Ansara is the Klingon leader.

The entity causes all kinds of strife between humans and Klingons. Finally, McCoy comes up with a medicine that makes both races happy and non-belligerent. So the entity leaves the Enterprise.

I think the media is that alien entity, thriving on and creating negativity and strife. They are truly “enemies of the people,” both humans and Klingons.

(Why is it proper to capitalize Klingons, but not humans?)
