And this all happens on the same day we learn that the unemployment website will be down for at least another week, and the governor gets a $25,000 raise this year and another $25,000 raise next year.
His executive order is an act of homicide. And Cuomo will be remembered by history as the truck governor.
Hopefully this finishes him as an elected official. I have no other words for this outrage.
I live just north of Albany, NY which is otherwise called the tri-city area for Albany, Schenectady and Troy. There is a mix of public and private hospitals I’m the tri-city area.
Conversely, the more rural counties in upstate NY will only have a single County hospital.
Note we haven’t heard anything publicly about converting space to treat regular medical issues or corona virus.
Cuomo has already stated the intend to transport NYC patients upstate and to the Albany area in particular. Which means about the time the crisis hits upstate the hospitals could well be swamped with NYC patients transported upstate. So, upstate patients get a tent? Probably!
Guess we’re too hearty, we weren’t helpless enough to depend on or vote for Demorats before.

I’m not against sharing of medical supplies. In theory, if downstate is facing a surge, but upstate is not (or will face a surge later) than why not share equipment.
BUT - I am an Upstate NY’er, and this also shows the extreme disconnect between conservative, rural, small-city upstate and the center of the NY political and financial universe, NY City.
Over the last few decades, progressive NY has turned upstate NY into the former eastern Europe. One-party power, means all decisions are based elsewhere and nothing changes. Statism and nanny-state bureaucracy means confiscatory taxes. Rules and regulations are forced on all locations, which match the politics only of those few in the center. Therefore, the economy is crap, and people must leave to find opportunity.
At last report several county officials were planning to sue to prevent the looting. Trump could stop it in a heartbeat if he wanted to- and would be a hero to most of the state if he did.
NY State (and other uniparty progressive places like IL or NJ) is absolutely screwed. 42% of NY’s “GDP” comes from the island of Manhattan, so the state budget depends on zero interest, printed money and bubbles blown on Wall Street. This concentration of money funds a perverse concentration of political and ideological power.
The silver lining of Covid-19 is that it will hopefully destroy the one-party, bureaucratic, leftist politics of these states when they find they are all insolvent.

I wonder how many National Guardsmen will be returning on orders to their home communities to gather up and confiscate the medical supplies which would have cared for their own families. I wonder how many National Guard husbands will seize the masks and gloves that would have protected their own nurse wives.
That will not end well. Upstate is full of 2nd amendment types who are active hunters.

President Trump, Please federalize the New York State National Guard and order them to stand down immediately from any orders from Gov. Cuomo to confiscate ventilators. Announce this at today’s task force press briefing.
