Thats just it. They say 6 feet. OK.
So I went to get the groceries and there is a line outside with a supposed distance of 6 feet between one person and the next, which some people observe and others don't.. Looked more like 3 or 4 feet to me.
But here is the funny part, once you are inside the store, and are busy walking the isles looking for your product, you almost always come within inches of other customers also buying their groceries. That's all it may take.
This whole “social distancing” malarkey is a joke.

Yes .... there ARE more than a few "nonsensical elements" of the social distancing agenda.

"Great picture. Perfect for the topic of the article. Begs the question, “Safety and security or freedom.”

I was thinking of THX 1138 or Logan’s Run."

I think most people try to comply when I shop, but there is always a few that are oblivious to distancing or just don't care.

Some may be oblivious, but even when both are being aware, passing on an isle puts you way less than 6 feet apart in most cases.

You are basically right (in my opinion). But of course it may be safe to be cautious.

I agree about the grocery store! My wife and I (73 and 70 years old) nearly every day go to our nearby grocery store in our suburb of Pittsburgh to get our groceries. We also buy many for our REALLY OLD NEIGHBORS.

You cannot avoid getting near to people in the store.

The produce area is especially a challenge. (If you want to hear stories of THE PRODUCE AREA let me know.

;-)

I agree, I try to avoid passing and go around. Helps meet my goal of 10K steps a day.

MASKS ? WHAT ABOUT THESE ? What did cowboys wear to keep the dust from chocking them when it was kicked up in cattle drives? Bandanas. Seems to me They would do

Since you asked...

A dust particle is 40,000 times larger than a single virus partical.

So dust on a scarf is not likely to get inhaled through the scarf as you breath. And even if it does, it is not goingt to kill you. You wouldn't even notice breathing trace amounts of dust throug a scarf.

You get Caronavirus on your scarf, and as you breath in and out it will moisten with your breath. Every time you inhale, the virus is going to work its way through the water in your scarf until you begin to breath it in.

Then their is the fact that a scarf can't possibly be tight fitting. It is always going to be open to the bottom where it just hangs in front of your chin. Every time the wind blows, you are going to get a little dust in your mouth. With a virus, that is all she wrote -- you are infected..

6-feet separation is just a safety factor.

The fact is, you could stand 3-inches away from a person coated in Coronavirus from head to toe, and as long as he is not moving, coughing, sneezing, or touching you — you won’t get infected. The point of staying 6 feet way is in case sombody coughs or sneezes.

Typically, droplets from a cough or sneeze will carry 6-feet away or less. If you are outside that 6-foot zone it is hard for a droplet to launch itself to hit you. Even then, the would probably be down at the level of your feet.

If you don’t touch the virus and lift it to your face, or get coughed on, or sneezed on, you won’t get infected. Hence the 6-foot rule of thumb. I am always looking out for people coughing or sneezing. If I avoid that, I know I’m OK.

Except that people have been sneezing and coughing for thousands of years, long before coronavirus. It's not exactly a new activity engaged in by mankind. And they will continue to sneeze and cough, coronavirus or not.
Meanwhile, the fact that someone coughs or sneezes doesn't mean they have coronavirus. They could just have oh let me see, ..just an ordinary cough.
It makes this whole “social distancing” kind of silly.
